On AEW Dynamite, Miro used a defense of the TNT Championship against Dante Martin as more of a way to send a message to Lance Archer than anything else. Archer laid Miro out with a big boot following that match, and now Miro knows he has a fight tonight. This is Archer’s second attempt to become TNT Champion, after losing the match to crown first champion at Double or Nothing last year. Let’s hope AEW reinforced the ring for this one.
Lance Archer Gets The Jump On Miro
Archer dove over the ropes to attack Miro before the bell, starting this one off with a bang. Some running back elbows would crush Miro before Archer went for Old School with a moonsault twist for a one count. They’d get into the outside brawl, and Miro looked to use the hair of Archer to drag him around but instead was put through the times keeper table with a spinebuster.
Archer got Miro back in the ring, only for Miro to slip outside. He suckered Archer for a belly to belly suplex over the barricade, before going back after him and sending him back over. Back in the ring, Archer would take some strikes before exploding back at Miro. Miro got the spinning leg lariat, before launching some mid-kicks to the chest of Archer.
Archer hit the Hell-o-coaster for a two count, needing a stronger move to keep a man like Miro down. A moonsault might have done it but Miro dodged and hit a roundhouse kick and Samoan Drop. Jake Roberts who took a cheap shot from Miro during fanfest was back, and with a sack.
Miro Puts Archer To Sleep
Roberts would look to unleash the snake, but Miro took him down and threw the sack across the arena and looked to kick Roberts out. Archer intercepted with a chokeslam for a two count. Miro was put up top for Blackout, but Miro slipped out before impact and cut Archer down with strikes.
Archer tackled Miro out of the ring with The Pounce, but Miro thrown into the ring and used the high ground advantage to suplex Archer into the ring. A leaping thrust kick dropped Archer, and Miro looked for Game Over on Archer. This is the biggest man he’s attempted the move against, but he’d be able to lock it in and force Archer to pass out.
Like expected, this was a drag out brawl from open to close. Archer was able to match the power of Miro throughout, but was unable to break him down enough to nail The Blackout. Miro had to use a modified version of Game Over to put him away, and everyone is left wanting more. Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** 1/2)
