Adam Cole was able to win his debut trios match in AEW alongside The Young Bucks, but tonight he has to ride solo. In just his second singles match in AEW, he will try to take out a homegrown favorite, and one of the best up and coming stars. Jungle Boy has taken some of the best to the limit, but can he get an Undisputed win over Adam Cole?
Jungle Boy Proves He Can Hang With The Elite
This would open the show, and both entrances got the crowd going fast. Jungle Boy would take Cole down to the mat before having the veteran slip out. Cole would trick Jungle Boy in the corner before getting a headlock, only to have things turned around. Jungle Boy was shoved off but hit a big shoulder tackle. The huge armdrag would Cole down, and a dropkick sent him outside.
Cole would lure Jungle Boy outside, get into the ring, and use the high ground to take the advantage. After a bit of outside brawling, he’d get a headlock in the middle of the ring. Jungle Boy got free and nailed a massive lariat – turning Cole inside out. They’d trade strikes in the middle of the ring, Cole getting a huge gamiguri and pump kick, before Jungle Boy nailed a desperate brainbuster.
Adam Cole Digs Deep
Cole ran into a Belly to Belly suplex, before a German Suplex got a two count. Jungle Boy held on after the impact, and would set Adam Cole up into the tree of woe – and while Cole fought a bit – he’d take a dropkick to the face. A big pumphandle slam was set up, but Cole rolled him into a pinfall before the backstabber and ushigoroshi.
Cole would get some jaw jacking in, but took a poisonrana before a sliding elbow to the back of the head. The pumphandle driver landed – but only got a two count. Cole would send him to the outside, where he wanted Panama Sunrise on the floor. Jungle Boy dodged and hit a hurricanrana off the apron.
The jump in flatliner was met with a superkick and Panama Sunrise for two! The Boom was dodged, and Jungle Boy applied the Snare Trap. Cole would get close to the ropes and Jungle Boy let him go to reapply. Jungle Boy would accidentally have Cole shoved into the referee before taking a low blow and The Last Shot for the win.
Cole has fit into AEW like a glove, and he’s still got another gear that we haven’t seen yet. This was a solid TV match, taking the usual PWG style and making it TV friendly. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** 3/4)
