One of the many names who were released from WWE NXT is the in-ring veteran Bobby Fish. While many argued this wasn’t a bad move by WWE, as he wasn’t getting any younger and arguably peaked as a member of The Undisputed Era – Fish is looking to prove he’s still got a lot left in the tank outside of WWE. He’s already going to appear for MLW in their Opera Cup, but has a match set for AEW Dynamite’s two year anniversary as well – where he will challenge Sammy Guevara for the TNT Championship. The graphic for this match is already here, and eagle eyed fans noticed something interesting that most overlooked.
Bobby Fish Is Perhaps Doing More Than Just Stepping Through The Forbidden Door
In the graphic, Bobby Fish is wearing a new T-Shirt. Fans were interested in trying to get this shirt, but after checking his store page on Pro Wrestling Tees – it wasn’t there. Taking a closer look, fans would notice an AEW logo on his shirt. It’s small but there, and the implication is that Bobby Fish might have been brought onto the AEW roster. He’s not just stepping through the Forbidden Door, but perhaps taking a bed to call his own within.
This would also make sense – given the history of Fish. He’s had numerous battles with The Young Bucks over his career, namely teaming with Kyle O’Reilly in places like New Japan Pro Wrestling & Ring of Honor. Adam Cole is also there, and they teamed for years in WWE NXT as members of Undisputed Era. These are good friends to have – but is Fish a good get for AEW?
Is He A Strong Get For AEW?
When it comes to the reception of fans after his WWE release, the general consensus is that Fish is too old and too injury prone. He’s 44 years old, which isn’t young for professional wrestling. However, Sting still looking great at 62 proves that age is just a number when you’re in the squared circle with your boots laced up. Fish does have a history with injury, but annual trips into WarGames weren’t helping that much.
When it comes to Fish, he’s a strong grappler with impressive striking – and a lot of experience. AEW is still a young company, and they’ve done well getting experienced names to help coach some of the newer names in the company. Fish has put a lot of miles in, and while he can deliver in the ring – working backstage as a coach might be his way to shine in AEW.
