Last night was perhaps the biggest show we’ve ever seen from Game Changer Wrestling (GCW). They’d take over Atlantic City for a night of violence and drama, with even professional wrestling legend and deathmatch icon Mick Foley being on the scene. Jon Moxley & Nick Gage went for war in a main event for the GCW Heavyweight Championship – but that was only the peak of this iceberg.
Major Tag Team Surprise Sees The Briscoe Brothers Debut
There were two big surprises on this show, things that fans really couldn’t have predicted. First up, we had a major tag team debut – one that feels just right for a company like GCW. Following the six man tag team match which saw Mance Warner, Matthew Justice, & AJ Gray (known collectively as The Second Gear Crew) defeat AKIRA, Alex Colon & G-Raver?
Second Gear Crew would cut a promo. They claimed no tag team on the planet could defeat them. They might come to regret those words, as they were then met with The Briscoe Brothers from Ring of Honor. The former 13 time ROH World Tag Team Champions rarely leave their home promotion, but the hype of GCW is getting too large to keep them away.
Even Bigger Show Incoming For GCW, Jon Moxley Is Still A Deathmatch Warrior
Speaking of the increasing hype of GCW, tonight’s show was big – but bigger things are on the horizon. They would announce that they are set to run the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom at an upcoming show. This was the home of some major Extreme Championship Wrestling events back in the day, as well as One Night Stand in 2005 & 2006. A major move for GCW, and one that shows their consistent rise. It can hold around 2,500 fans – and GCW should be able to bring that in.
The main event of the night was one of the biggest matches the promotion has ever run. It was a deathmatch for the GCW Heavyweight Championship pitting Nick Gage against Jon Moxley. While he was just in a chaotic ladder match on AEW Dynamite, Moxley showed up to draw blood like he was back in CZW. This was not a match for the faint of heart, with buckets of blood being split by two masters of the style. In the end, Moxley was able to overcome Gage – using a top rope Death Rider.
