Jay White is sick of Tomohiro Ishii, and tonight has a chance to end their issue once and for all. He will put the NEVER Openweight Championship on the line, allowing Ishii to potentially claim yet another reign with it. However, White added an extra stipulation. This is the last chance Ishii gets at the belt ever. If he loses, he can never challenge for it again.

Jay White Picks Tomohiro Ishii Apart

Things would start off hot with a trading of shoulder tackles, before White hit a low dropkick to send Ishii down to the mat. Ishii took a corner seat, before being thrown across the ring. He’d rebound back out with some lariats, before dropping White with a shoulder tackle. White slipped outside of the ring and back in… and back out again, all trying to get the jump on Ishii, and failing.

After being dragged back into the ring, he would hit a stunner over the ropes, sending Ishii falling to the ground. Some irish whips into the barricade would further punish Ishii, while White had some time to play to the fans. With control over Ishii, White would nail some chops in the corner, dishing out the damage needed to hopefully nail the Blade Runner and get away with the belt.

Ishii would show some fight with some chops of his own, before taking a chop block to the back of the knee. Single leg crab was applied, but White was unable to maintain the submission. Ishii would nail a big shoulder tackle to rock White, before looking for a German Suplex. White would resist, but be dropped with another hard strike.

Taken into the corner, White would be hit with alternating chops and elbows, looking more limp with each blow. He’d manage to get back to his feet, and nailed a Death Valley Driver for a two count. Ishii was right back on the hunt, nailing a back elbow before driving White into the corner. White would fire back with a single underhook suplex, sending Ishii into the corner and onto his head.

Never Threaten To Take Away The Stone Pitbulls Bone

Blade Buster would land, but was not enough for the three count. More chops in the corners with some elbows from White, beating him down before choking with the boot. Ishii refused to quit, and was right back up. He’d shrug off a forearm blow, and then another. Suddenly, White was on the floor and at risk of a superplex from Ishii. He’d fight to prevent this, but Ishii was having none of it. The superplex landed, getting a two count.

White would have enough to land the big uranage, but Ishii would kick out and resist the strikes of White. All he had left with Blade Runner, but he couldn’t set it up when a single strike from Ishii sent him to the floor. Ishii would get slapped and hit with a Saito Suplex, popping right back up to rock White with a backdrop of his own.

An exploder suplex over the top rope finally gave White a new lease on life in this match, with Ishii hitting the apron hard and floor harder. Kiwi Crusher in the ring got a two count, before Ishii nailed a headbutt. A Sleeper Suplex would be attempted, but Ishii got a German Suplex instead. He’d get it on the next attempt, before Ishii damn near took his head off with a lariat in response.

White hit a lariat of his own, and was one move from the win, but chose to hit Ishii with his own finisher. Disgraced by being hit with his own finish, Ishii kicked out at one. White would work Ishii back to his feet, take a headbutt and jumping enziguri. He’d avoid the Blade Runner and hit a Dragon Suplex, and White was rocked. A big lariat landed, but only counted for a two count. Vertical Drop Brainbuster landed, and Ishii is now a six time NEVER Openweight Champion.

Jay White & Tomohiro Ishii always deliver with their matches, and this was no exception. The added stakes of potentially having Ishii locked away from a belt he helped make iconic added some extra spice, while they played the hits and did what always gets the crowds on their feet. Match Rating: 4/5 (****)

Will Tomohiro Ishii carry this gold to AEW Dynamite this Wednesday when he meets Butcher & The Blade alongside newly minted CHAOS ally, Orange Cassidy? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
