Right now, The Young Bucks aren’t a focus of AEW. Since losing the AEW World Tag Team Championships to The Lucha Bros in a downright brutal cage match, they’ve been sliding down the card. Another PPV loss at Full Gear left the brothers beaten and injured, but they will remain on TV to ensure Adam Cole doesn’t ruin the faction as Kenny Omega is also injured. There was also a chance that 2022 would be the last of The Young Bucks in AEW, as their contracts were coming to an end – but fear not, they are sticking around.
The Young Bucks Are With AEW Until January 2024 Now
Originally, The Young Bucks deal was good until January 1st, 2022. This left them wide open for someone like WWE to sign them in time for Royal Rumble later that month, where they could rejoin former Bullet Club members like AJ Styles and Finn Balor, or a part of Mount Rushmore in Kevin Owens. Everyone expects Owens to leave WWE to join AEW, but the opposite was equally possible until now.
This is because that date has become January 1st, 2024. The Young Bucks both signed new deals with AEW, adding another two years to their contracts. Considering they have roles as EVP’s in the company, and help book the tag team division, while also being in the prime of their career in the ring – they would have been fools to do otherwise.
More Contracts Could Be Coming To An End In 2022
This however could see some talent leave AEW, especially those who signed on early in the company’s history. Names like Frankie Kazarian, Private Party, Joey Janela and more all signed on early in the companies history – meaning their deals could be quickly coming to a close. We know Janela signed with AEW in May 2019, with his deal coming up in 2022 – as he stated so while saying he needs to step it up before that comes.
While AEW have only ever released talents who caused major problems, such as Jimmy Havoc & Ivelisse – they have no issue letting a contract run out if they’re not going to use their talent. Who do you see leaving AEW in 2022 as early contracts start to run out? Will WWE look to snatch some talent to rebuild their roster? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
