American actress Busy Philipps has opened up on the moment that she realised that her daughter, Birdie, told her that she identified as non-binary.

Busy, who is best known for her time on Dawson’s Creek, admitted that she was delighted to see her daughter come out with exactly what she was feeling.
And given that gender identity is such a topical issue, Busy had no qualms in discussing that very subject with her daughter. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said: “Birdie had discussed it with me.
“They had come to me and were like, ‘You can talk about me, my queerness, and my pronouns on your podcast. I was like, “Well, are you sure? Let’s discuss it.”
And after having that discussion, Busy was trying to encourage her daughter about the benefits of coming out. And yet, it is important to bear in mind that such a decision was not going to endear her daughter to everyone.
That is precisely what Busy discovered when she ended up seeing her daughter reveal her identity. She added: “It was hard for me in terms of knowing that there would be people that would be unkind to my child.
“I felt like I was putting my kid out there and putting them at risk of getting some of that negativity toward who they are as a person.”
Nevertheless, Birdie did not care about the criticism. In fact, she knew that this was something that would occur. In the picture here, we can see Birdie demonstrating her new look without a care in the world.
She is displaying her blue hair while she is talking on her cellphone. Clearly, she is not bothered about what others may be thinking.
Busy’s following comments confirmed as much: “[Birdie said] Mom, you thought everybody was going to be real nice about it? No, this is the world we live in.”‘
Birdie’s actions will encourage other people to get the courage to come out and follow suit. And given that she managed to overcome the criticism, she is in the best position to continue moving forward in her life.
