Rihanna, who was named an Ambassador of Barbados in 2018, received this title of National Hero in an event that was held in Bridgetown, to mark the separation of Barbados from the United Kingdom to become a Republic of its own.

She was called on stage by the Prime Minister, Mottley to accept this honor. He stated that “On behalf of a grateful nation, but an even prouder people, we, therefore, present to you, the designee, for the national hero of Barbados, Ambassador Robyn Rihanna Fenty.”
Her top-charting song, Diamond, was referenced when the Prime Minister said, “May you continue to shine like a diamond and continue to bring honor to your nation by your words, by your actions, and to do credit wherever you shall go.”
She becomes the second woman to be declared National Hero of Barbados, and the eleventh person in total. This latest honor grants her the right to officially add, “The Right Honorable” and/or “The Right Excellent” before her name.
Rihanna was born in Saint Michael, Barbados, and was raised in Bridgetown before she moved to the US in 2004, and since then has recorded huge successes and achievements concerning music, beauty, fashion. and others.
