Gunn Club were sick of not being recognized on the AEW rankings, despite maintaining near perfect records throughout 2021. Colton & Billy Gunn have a 35-0 record in tag team action, and have never been able to get a shot at the AEW World Tag Team Championships. However, if they defeat Sting & Darby Allin tonight – maybe that will finally get them in line for a shot against The Lucha Bros.
Sting & Darby Allin End The Longest Win Streak In AEW History
Allin would start up against Colton, as Austin Gunn was louder than the capacity crowd. Colton nailed a back elbow before grabbing a headlock. He’d be shoved off but came back with a shoulder tackle. Allin would be able to nail an armdrag and shotgun dropkick, before Billy tagged in. Sting would face Billy, before sending him running to the outside as he faced a Stinger Splash.
Allin would tag in and go for a Coffin Splash on Billy, but was caught into the One & Only for a two count. Billy would drive Allin into the corner, tagging in Colton. Quick tags would follow, as they took turns bullying Allin. Colton would apply the Scorpion Deathlock right in front of Sting, and this was a mistake.
Allin fired up and got the tag. Sting would run wild and nail some heavy lariats as well as some Stinger Splashes. Colton took a spinebuster, and Sting showed him how to actually apply the hold. Billy distracted referee Aubrey Edwards, and Austin punched Sting in the jaw before Billy nailed the Fame Asser. Colton got two of the pinfall, and Allin threw himself into Billy on the outside. He’d come in and nail a stunner to Colton, before Scorpion Deathdrop for the win.
Taz was at commentary with the rest of Team Taz. Lio Rush would come out, and say that Taz should know him. Rush has been the underdog his entire career, and heard it when Taz claimed Team Taz has a 100% chance at winning the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royale next week. Rush cut a fiery promo claiming he doesn’t care if it’s a 1% chance, he will still get the win next week. He’d step up to Taz, only to be stopped by Dante Martin & Ricky Starks.
Ruby Soho Continues Towards Her Destination
Kris Statlander looked up to the likes of Ruby Soho, and credits her as one of the reasons she got into this sport. Now in the final Quarter Final match of the tournament – she’ll learn why you never want to meet your heroes like this. Taz gave a passionate performance of Ruby Soho by Rancid, but shouldn’t look to quit his day job.
Soho would grab a hammerlock on Statlander to start, before it was turned into a side headlock takedown. Statlander would be nearly taken down with a backslide, and blocked before Soho nearly uncorked a big right hand. Soho would be taken down and nearly kicked in the face – but Statlander held back. Statlander would block a Monkey Flip, before being taken down with an armdrag.
She’d come back with a big suplex, before applying the bow and arrow stretch on the mat. Soho would slip free, and force a double down with a huge strike. Statlander & Soho would make it to their feet, before Statlander ran into an STO in the corner before a big senton for a two count. Soho looked for a bulldog, but it was blocked into a massive Blue Thunder Bomb.
The spinning Fisherman Driver would follow, which could be argued as a three count. Statlander would hit a running elbow, and was able to block Deadly Nightshade before taking a poisonrana for a two count. No Future kick was blocked before Big Bang Theory was set. Soho countered into a cradle pin for the win!
