Greg Grippo has given his take on his exit from ‘The Bachelorette’ on Katie Thurston’s season of the show.
‘The Bachelorette’: Greg Grippo Gives His Take On Why He Walked Out From The Show
Greg, for his part, walked away from the show after showdown talks with Katie. After having professed his love for her, he wanted her to reciprocate those feelings towards him.
But when she failed to express a similar sentiment, Greg decided to walk away and save himself from any heartbreak.
In an interview on the “We Met at Acme” podcast Greg said: “It was a really tough decision to leave. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to, you know, choose for myself.”
The primary reason why it was difficult for Greg to leave was shown in the aftermath of his exit. Numerous accusations started emerging that Greg had engaged in acting classes prior to his appearance on the show.
As such, a certain subset of people felt that his exit was part of a wider move to improve his public profile and therefore dramatise the whole experience.
So much so that this caused Katie and Greg to fall out which came to a head in the latter stages of the sit-down discussions about the show.
He added: “It was tough, especially after hearing everyone saying like, ‘Oh, I was acting or I ran away when it got too serious.”
But had Katie reciprocated her love towards him, then who knows where things could have gone. And that is something that we will never know. Having said that, though, Greg had other reservations about the show.
He questioned the authenticity of it, especially about how people were portrayed. Given that people have to navigate in such a regimented structure, that is something that put him off.
His following comments confirmed as much: “It felt, like, a little too scripted and felt like, ‘Alright, we need to play by [the rules].”
It is only poetic that Greg would go on to defy the show by walking away. But looking back at how Katie moved on with John Hersey after having left Blake Moynes, things turned out for the better in the end.
