Harry Potter author J K Rowling has shockingly declined an invitation to attend the 20-year reunion of the Harry Potter movies over the transgender scandal and Emma Watson’s comments.
Harry Potter Author J K Rowling Did Not Attend The Harry Potter Reunion Amid Her Transgender Comments Scandal
The author may not be present but that does not mean that she has not had her say about the historic franchise. According to reports, the author is set to make a small cameo through some footage.
Although this is a disappointment for the fans, on closer inspection, it is easy to understand why she may have declined the invitation. First of all, J K Rowling’s recent comments about transgenderism caused controversy. J K Rowling refused to accept trans women as women and made it clear that she thought biological sex mattered.
As such, her critics felt that she was conflating the terms gender and sex when she stated the following comments: “People who menstruate.” I’m sure there used to be a word for those people.”
And given that one of the movie’s biggest stars, that being Emma Watson, prides herself on women’s rights, it was clear that such a meeting would have been awkward to say the least.
Secondly, the author’s comments had unfortunately led to transgender activists getting their own back on J K Rowling.
As such, her home address was leaked on social media which caused the author to publicly come out and condemn this act on the grounds that it had endangered her life.
Once this is all taken into account, it is totally understandable that J K Rowling might want to keep a low profile for a while. It is not exactly clear why the author would not be attending, but outside of an alternative explanation, this can only be the logical reason.
And further evidence has also suggested that this may be the reason. In response to the author’s comments which indicate a refusal to see trans women as women, Emma Watson had come out to state the following: “Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are.”
It is unfortunate that the cast of the movie and the author are not on good terms at the moment but not surprising as some huge celebrities refuse to endorse the Hollywood woke agenda.
This is especially since both J K Rowling and Emma Watson of played such a major part in each other’s success – as the movie as well as the book had only gone on to increase the popularity of both.
