Tommaso Ciampa & Bron Breakker are tied up after NXT 2.0 WarGames. They first met at Halloween Havoc in 2021, where Ciampa was able to beat the promising rookie. At WarGames, Breakker was the one to get the deciding fall – as he took Ciampa down. Now to kick off 2022, they will meet one more time. Whoever wins, gets to lead NXT into the new year as the champion. Just remember – no one has ever beaten Ciampa for this championship before, and Breakker will have to wrestle a perfect match to get the job done.
Tommaso Ciampa Pulls Out Some Rare Moves
Breakker knows that mistakes against Ciampa lead to losses, so starts safe by trying for the lock up. Ciampa would instantly pick up the pace and hit a running lariat, before Breakker rolled him up into a delayed vertical suplex. Heading to the outside, Ciampa would try to snatch the ankle of Breakker, but was blocked and hit with another suplex.
Ciampa would grind the eyes of Breakker along the ropes, before catching him with a perfect dropkick to the jaw. Breakker gained some steam and wanted the running shoulder tackle – but Ciampa ducked to dodge, and hit a knee strike to send Breakker outside before a rare Tornillo over the top!
Back in the ring, Ciampa went for a sleeper hold, but Breakker broke the hold by slamming Ciampa to the mat. Some lariats would land before a stinger splash, and Breakker would counter a Thesz Press into a twisting spinebuster. A frankensteiner was set, but Ciampa slipped out and left Breakker in the tree of woe for a low dropkick.
Setting up Fairytale Ending, Ciampa was ready to put Breakker away before it was blocked. Breakker nailed a spinebuster into a standing moonsault, but didn’t get the win. He’d considered the diving bulldog, but remembered it cost him last time. Ciampa caught the moment of hesitation and sent Breakker outside and nailed a running knee. Back in the ring, he’d look for another but take a spear instead.
Bron Breakker Realizes His Destiny
Ciampa would be ready to keep fighting with some strikes into the corner, before looking for the running knee but getting caught with the frankensteiner. At some point, Ciampa was pushed open and his eyes were getting bloody. He’d still counter the press slam into Willows Bell, getting a two count before applying the single leg crab.
Ciampa would pull up the protective mats on the outside, and wanted a DDT onto concrete. This helped him win last time, but instead Breakker nailed an Alabama Slam through the announce table! Back into the ring, the Gorilla Press powerbomb would land, but Ciampa got the bottom rope! He’d cling onto the safety of the rope while he recovered, and got a low blow in the ropes before hitting an exposed knee to the head of Breakker twice.
A third knee and a Fairytale Ending would end this one… if Breakker was a normal rookie. Ciampa would look for the Air Raid Crash off the top rope, but Breakker was able to shove him off and hit the diving bulldog. Steiner Recliner would be applied, and Ciampa tapped!
