Clay Aiken, who was best known for being the runner up on the hit TV show American Idol, has revealed that he will be making a run for Congress in the state of North Carolina.

It is no secret that Clay’s music career failed to take off, but much in the same way, his political career is nothing left to be desired. In 2014, he had also made a run for the House of Representatives. But unfortunately, he came up short.
And this time around, it is not going to be any easier. But that has not stopped Clay from pursuing his aspirations. In a post to his fans on Youtube, Clay confirmed how he is more ready now than he ever was before.
He said: “I came home, I came out, I became a father. These days, my life looks a lot more like yours than Justin Biebers’, that I can promise you. But one thing that’s never changed for me is how much I love my home state.”
And in an attempt to resonate with the public, Clay’s policies could be described as very progressive indeed. Such things include tackling climate change, gun violence, as well as free healthcare.
It is easier said than done, as these have been issues that have plagued the United States for decades. That is why Clay has had enough.
He added: “These people are taking up all the oxygen in the room and, I’ve got to tell you, I am sick of it. As democrats, we have got to get better at speaking up and using our voices.”
The response in the comments section was not too kind for Clay. A certain group of people felt that his candidacy could not be taken seriously by virtue of his failed attempts in the past both on a music and political level.
Thus, Clay could not relate to the public. One person wrote: “Your issues are weak, your approach is lazy. You’re in the past…please stay there.”
