Ever since Survivor Series 2002, the Elimination Chamber has been one of the biggest spectacles WWE has. While it turning into an annual PPV event has lessened the hype when it comes around, it has still produced some truly jaw dropping matches and moments. Lately, it’s taken roots on the Road to Wrestlemania, and once again it will come as a February PPV event. However, WWE might be looking to change the name of the event.
The Elimination Chamber To Become Wrestlemania Chamber?
After two decades of being called the “Elimination Chamber”, WWE might be moving on from this name. WWE is considering the name ‘Wrestlemania Chamber‘, which tracks with current naming conventions. In 2021, they renamed Backlash to ‘Wrestlemania Backlash’. Considering the match is now exclusively used ahead of Wrestlemania, it makes sense. WWE basically just uses it as an ad for Wrestlemania, so this is just a more honest name to attach to the match.
This is also potentially a way to prevent having to prepare alternate branding for the event in Germany. Given the history of the country, the name Elimination Chamber has been viewed as something in poor taste in the country. They have renamed the event to “No Escape” in the region for years. In response to this news, many fans have just stated that WWE has the old “No Way Out” branding from the Ruthless Aggression era available, which would be a much more natural name.
WWE Bringing The Cage To Saudi Arabia?
In addition to it potentially being renamed to “Wrestlemania Chamber”, WWE are also switching things up by running this show as one of their annual Saudi Arabia super shows. In a report from Fightful Select, it’s been stated that WWE could be bringing the chamber to Saudi Arabia. This would be a major deal. It would also allow WWE to add some actual stakes to the Elimination Chamber match once again.
Generally, one or both of the World Champions in WWE will defend their championships in the six way match. It can also be used to set up a contender for Wrestlemania, depending on how the Royal Rumble goes. Either way, bringing this match to Saudi Arabia will help the event not just feel like a giant house show – which could increase viewership.
