The WWE isn’t shy about what they want, and since they rebranded NXT to bring in bigger and younger wrestlers, it makes sense they would turn their attention to some that are waiting for their moment.
Though the WWE showing any interest goes against the claim they’re going to try to avoid the Indies and other companies, it’s hard not to consider the potential in someone like Wardlow.
The issue is AEW has only scratched the surface with him in their slow build for him to maul MJF, and he’s also said he wants to stay with AEW until he retires.
With his biggest match to date happening later tonight, I can confirm, without hesitation, that WWE will be extremely interested in luring Wardlow away from AEW when his contract is due. There are several people within World Wrestling Entertainment that LOVE his potential.

Showing interest
Wrestlevotes broke the rumor on Twitter by saying:
“With his biggest match to date happening later tonight, I can confirm, without hesitation, that WWE will be extremely interested in luring Wardlow away from AEW when his contract is due. There are several people within World Wrestling Entertainment that LOVE his potential.”
It’s easy to see why as he has so much untapped potential yet, but with the WWE going back to being the Land of the Giants chances are he’ll be lost among the rest.
The WWE has never been good at maintaining a balance and variety except in the Attitude Era, and even then the giants were getting beaten regularly.
Still, there’s no point in saying never as the WWE may find ways to convince Wardlow they’re the right fit for him when his contract is up.
Let’s clear some things up:
1. Much love to @AEW, continue the great work
2. I think @RealWardlow has mega potential & I take him for his word that he wants to remain AEW for life, however-
3. That does not discount the fact WWE will 100% make a play for him at the proper time— WrestleVotes (@WrestleVotes) January 12, 2022
Plenty of possibilities
They could offer him money, dream matches against favorites like Goldberg, Roman Reigns, and Drew McIntyre, assuming any of them are still wrestling or with the company in the next year or two.
They could even try the creative angle, though the way their programming has been it’d probably be more of a deterrent than not.
Wardlow’s also 33, and that puts him above the WWE’s imposed age limit for talent going to NXT, so that would hint he’d be going to the main roster.
There may be plenty of incentives on top of those added in, but in the end AEW is where he’s been and he seems happy there.
They’re not rushing his character and he’s largely unproven match count wise, so there’s no sign on things getting rushed just to get viewers.
A lot can change by the time his contract ends, but do you think there’s a chance Wardlow will go to WWE when the time comes, or will he remain true to AEW?
