Recently, we’ve seen a lot of early All Elite Wrestling contracts in the news. Their year one deals are coming to an end, and some deals like that of Peter Avalon aren’t being renewed. Others such as Brian Cage, and Joey Janela are also likely to not stick around within AEW. However, one of their biggest early names is not going anywhere – as Frankie Kazarian has signed a new deal with AEW.
Frankie Kazarian Was One Half Of The First Ever AEW World Tag Team Champions
When it comes to Frankie Kazarian in AEW, he has already made history when he became one half of the first ever AEW World Tag Team Champions. This was done alongside Scorpio Sky, as part of the SCU faction. Lots has changed since then, with Sky splitting off from SCU to try and go solo – only to end up a tag team with Ethan Page, and with SCU being broken up by The Young Bucks.
All the same, Frankie Kazarian has remained a constant force in AEW – namely picking up wins on shows like AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation. He recently showed up on Dynamite, taking the fight to Lance Archer in a fantastic midcard showcase – helping Archer look like an absolute beast ahead of his planned match for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship against Hangman Page.
No More Elite Hunter?
This match against Archer also saw Frankie Kazarian move away from his ‘Elite Hunter’ gimmick. He started that character up after The Young Bucks defeated SCU, breaking them up and sending Christopher Daniels off TV in the process. Many fans did not enjoy this character – feeling Kazarian was a worse hunter than Elmer Fudd.
However, now that Kenny Omega is off TV to nurse injuries and the big storyline in The Elite is reDRagon vs. The Frankie KazarianYoung Bucks – there is no reason for Frankie Kazarian to be skulking around. He’s now just being himself on TV, a crafty veteran with years of experience under his belt – which is exactly what AEW needs him to be. Much like Matt Sydal, Frankie Kazarian is able to make anyone look amazing – and is perfect at elevating names to the next level in AEW.
