Another episode of AEW Dark is being uploaded to YouTube tonight, the latest show from All Elite Wrestling. Two of the plucky underdog babyfaces of AEW team up tonight, when Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa try their luck against TH2 – aka The Hybrid-2. I don’t mean to bum anyone out but I do feel compelled to state a fact; this show may well be the last regular wrestling event we see for a little while. That is to say, a wrestling event with fans… this show was taped last Wednesday and things were quite a bit different back then to say the least. Hopefully normalcy will be restored soon and this will all be a memory before long. TH2 (The Hybrid-2 | Jack Evans & Angelico) vs. Brandon Cutler & Michael Nakazawa
Since the turn of 2020 we haven’t seen a ton of The Hybrid-2. Jack Evans and Angelico have only made two appearances on both Dark and Dynamite respectively and they haven’t won a match on either this year. But that’s not for lack of talent. If anything, it’s just a testament to how deep the tag division is that a tandem like this can get lost in the shuffle… they still think pretty highly of them. Cody actually surprisingly listed Jack Evans as one of the guys he’d most love to face in the future, calling him one of the best workers in the company and probably the most underrated.
Angelico is also pretty special as anyone who’s watched him in Lucha Underground can attest. So together, this team is definitely one that could rise back up from obscurity at any time. You never know, any easy win could be the one to spur them there. Not to disparage Brandon Cutler and Michael Nakazawa but… yeah, they’re pretty easy wins for basically anyone. Cutler is winless and Nakazawa only has a victory over Alex Jebailey to his name. So uh, y’know.
Full disclosure though, like the Cabana/Avalon match, they up and spoiled the result of this one on the latest episode of Being The Elite. So it’s not exactly a big flex to predict this one correctly, and I figure I just won’t. It’s not a big upset, though…
