AEW Dynamite continues. We see a backstage promo of MJF who promises to soon be the greatest world champion in pro wrestling history. Says he doesn’t care if it’s Jon Moxley, he will become the No. 1 Contender and he will get the gold, he doesn’t care who gets in his way. Doesn’t care if he has to face Kenny Omega, PAC, Chris Jericho or Hangman Page. Could even throw him a bone and give him one of the Jurassic Express. He stops to talk about how hot it is in here, has Wardlow take off his jacket to reveal the “I Pinned Cody” shirt. MJF says he didn’t realize he was wearing this shirt. Calls it embarrassing, obnoxious, regrettable and just distracting… kinda like a neck tattoo. And now, we have our main event of the evening… Jon Moxley and Darby Allin will now be taking on Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara!
Everyone else makes their way out. But before the bell, as Moxley comes down from the stands he gets jumped from behind by a bunch of guys in masks! They drag him into the common area, unmask to reveal they’re Santana, Ortiz and Jake Hager! They choke him, smack him with a plastic bin. Mox tries to double leg Hager into the wall but he gets swarmed in on again. Hager slams him into the wall and gets him with the low blow, Ortiz dumps trash on Moxley. Evidently Allin has also been jumped in the ring while all this has happened. Moxley keeps fighting back to his feet until Hager gets him with the Head and Arm Choke to put him to sleep! Now it looks like we’ve got a handicap match…
Jon Moxley & Darby Allin vs. Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
Moxley has been put to sleep as the bell rings. Darby ducks Guevara, springboard back body block! Kicks Jericho to the floor, dropkick sends Guevara into the corner! He bails, Sammy and Jericho embrace as Darby waits. Darby gets Sammy to the floor with a running bit boot, pursues to attack, drop toe hold sends Jericho into the steps! Darby back into the ring, Sammy cracks him with a high knee to the face! Cover for 2! Jericho tags in, back suplex nailed. Hager at ringside clobbers Darby as the ref is distracted! Jericho gets Allin into the tree of woe and slaps him. Charges, Darby avoids him! Leaps from the middle rope for a sunset flip for 2!
Takes Guevara off the apron, Springboard Moonsault press for a nearfall! Veerrry close! But Jericho catches him, gets him into the Walls of Jericho! Chant of “Darby”! He fights his way out but a baseball slide dropkick takes him to the floor! Jericho poses as we go to commercial. In the inset, Jericho throws Darby hard into the barrier and he ends up flying wildly into the crowd area! Jericho drags him right back and throws him into the ring. Sammy tags in, delayed suplex… very, very delayed. Tags Chris in to hand him Darby. And Jericho keeps him held thee as well! Finally takes him down as we come back!
“Let’s Go Darby” chant, crowd still trying to will him on as they keep pounding. Double whip, into a double back elbow! Sammy with a spin into a Tranquilo pose and Jericho poses on the mat with him! Jericho steps on the small of the back as he goes back to the apron. Sammy covers for 2. “F*ck You Sammy” chant has to be censored as he chops Darby in the corner. Jericho tags in and slaps Darby. “Stupid Idiot” chant, Darby fights back! Forearms! Crowd fires up with him! Clothesline takes him to the floor! Suicide Dive sends Jericho slamming into the barricade! Takes Jericho into the ring, “This Is Awesome” chant, Chris gets him with a kick, tag to Guevara.
Sammy drives Darby into the corner, and then into another. Takes him down, boot grinding into the throat as he flexes. Back Suplex position, toss into a kick to the spine for a nearfall! Tag to Jericho, mocking kicks to the face begin. Once more Darby tries to fight back, hits the ropes, laid out with a back elbow! Jericho poses, Lionsault – but Allin with the knees up to block him! “Darby” chant kicks up! Darby pulls himself up with the ropes, tags himself as Sammy tags in! Makes his own hot tag, series of strikes into the Yoshitonic for a clooose nearfall!
Catches a kick, sends Guevara to the outside where the Inner Circle catches him – Coffin Drop takes out the whole damn group! “Holy Sh*t” chant! Sammy back in, Over The Top Stunner! Goes up top! Coffin Drop nailed! Jericho in to break it up, Darby rolls and Chris elbow drops Sammy! Darby sends Jericho to the outside, wants a Suicide Dive – Jericho with the Judas Effect in mid-air! Darby thrown back into the ring! Sammy covers and that is that.
Winners: Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara
Crazy good stuff. That was an awesome handicap match and wasn’t even advertised as such! Inner Circle pose in the ring… Jon Moxley limps his way out with a chair! Runs off most of the Inner Circle, Paradigm Shift to Guevara! “Moxley” chant! Hager gets him with a lariat from behind however, Santana and Ortiz attacks him on the ramp. The gang assault continues on the stage. Santana and Ortiz put Mox up on the shoulders of Hager – Shield Bomb sends Mox off the stage and right through a table! They all flip off Moxley in unison as the show closes. No Lance Archer on the show after all, wonder what happened.
