The main event of Fyter Fest was not supposed to be Orange Cassidy vs. Chris Jericho, but rather Brian Cage vs. Jon Moxley. Unfortunately, Moxley’s wife would test positive for COVID-19, and the match would be postponed until next week at Fight For The Fallen. However, Taz & Cage would still show up this week, and with a big announcement to be made.
Taz Awards Brian Cage With The FTW World Heavyweight Championship
Taz & Cage would come down to the ring, with Taz having his normal orange towel, and something covered in a black towel. Cage would choose to not wear a shirt, to showcase just how jacked he is as he would just stand around and let Taz do his job.
Taz would explain that what was hidden in his hands is his legacy, the FTW Championship. No promotion has ever recoginized this title, but fans know it. Especially if you were a fan of ECW, as it was used there when Taz was supposed to face Shane Douglas for the ECW Championship, only for him to get sick and not be able to defend. This makes it very fitting that now, in 2020, Cage would be handed this title under very similar circumstances.
The man who holds the FTW Championship is the baddest son of a bitch in wrestling, and for a while that role has went unfilled, but now it’s Brian Cage. He will not walk into Fight For The Fallen empty handed, he’ll have this title over his shoulder instead, as he looks to add the AEW Championship to the other shoulder.
Will Cage Actually Defend This Championship?
With it being unlikely that Cage takes the AEW Championship from Moxley next week at Fight For The Fallen, he will atleast have the FTW Championship to call his own. This begs the question, will he defend this title, or will it simply be a prop? He’s got Darby Allin waiting to come back to face him, after Cage would injury Allin at Double or Nothing, and them going at it for the FTW Championship could be Taz vs. Sabu for the modern era.
