Last week, something fans long suspected finally happened. Ever since his hard hitting match with Brian Cage over the FTW Championship, Will Hobbs was a recruitment target for Team Taz. He seemed to resist them, but his actions last week, combined with some very slow rescues against Team Taz showed a different story. After hitting Cody Rhodes in the face with the FTW Championship, Powerhouse Hobbs is now part of Team Taz.
Lee Johnson Is Victimized By Powerhouse Hobbs
Having won six of his last seven matches, Powerhouse Hobbs had a clear edge over his opponent. Lee Johnson has potential, and is part of The Nightmare Family now, but a 0-16 singles record in 2020? That doesn’t bode well for him. Johnson would use his speed to get out of the way of Hobbs to start, flipping over him in the corner before being pounced.
Taz was on commentary with the FTW Championship in hand, which is Brian Cage’s, but Taz has some business once this match is through. Hobbs would throw Johnson to the outside, before sizing him up and hitting a huge running lariat. Gunn Club would be calling for their Nightmare Family member to rally back, before he was thrown into a barricade.
Finally back in the ring, Johnson was trying to pull himself back to his feet using Hobbs, being lifted right into a big slam and that was it. Another win for Powerhouse Hobbs, and Taz would make his way to the ring.
Taz Hijacks The Show
Taz would have the microphone, and knows he has business to do. Brian Cage & Ricky Starks are celebrating after their big match last week, and Taz wants Hobbs to go find and join them, while he takes care of some business. Taz has a problem, and that is because AEW doesn’t recognize the FTW Championship, and Team Taz is being disrespected. This championship has a legacy, and he’s not leaving the ring until someone from management legitimizes the belt.
His mic would be cut, and he’d call for Justin Roberts microphone. Taz is going to go to commentary and get an announcers headset if they cut this microphone, because they won’t cut that. His bluff would be called, and he stayed in the ring. Cody Rhodes would come to address the problem, he has respect for Taz but he’s wasting time.
Next week, it’s Powerhouse Hobbs & Ricky Starks vs. Cody Rhodes & Darby Allin. Rhodes wants to settle this in the ring, but Taz needs this settled tonight. Taz wants respect for that championship, and Rhodes will try to do that, send it up the flagpole. That wouldn’t work for Taz.
Rhodes would bring up the son of Taz, who is training with him and not Taz. That struck a nerve with Taz, who called him pathetic, told him he went too far and would lock in the Tazzmission on Rhodes, choking Rhodes out until Gunn Club ran him off. Taz’s son would help him carry the FTW Championship to the back.
