Cody Rhodes and Darby Allin have been having a feud off and on since the early days of AEW. Rhodes brought Allin into the company, only to go to the first ever time limit draw with him. That blemish will always bother Rhodes, even as they enter their fourth match. Allin has never been able to beat Rhodes, but tonight with gold on the line, is it finally his time? Can Darby Allin beat Cody Rhodes, and become the face of TNT?

    Cody Rhodes Has The Power

They’d meet in the middle of the ring and stare daggers. Backing off, Rhodes would look to get grappling control and try to grab that arm. He’d apply a wristlock, but fail to do anything with it. Allin got a hammerlock on Rhodes, only to be tripped up, but Allin didn’t spend long on his back. A series of standing switches would end with Allin slapping Rhodes in the back of the head, and then show just how much faster he is. Rhodes is bigger and stronger, needs to muscle Allin down.

Instead, Rhodes would just try to wrestle Allin, and that nearly led to him getting pinned. Rhodes fled to the outside, and a suicide dive to the outside would get Rhodes in the back. Back in the ring, Allin would go to the top rope, Rhodes grabbing him off there with a hammerlock, and then throwing Allin right to the ramp. This could have seriously injured that left arm of Allin, and now that’s a target for Rhodes.

Allin kept on fighting, but he was clearly in some serious pain here. Rhodes kept stomping that arm, being it in the ropes, anything to hurt it. Allin ended up in a short arm scissors, and got stuck in the middle of the ring. He’d get out, but every time Allin got an inch of space, that arm would fail him.

    Destroying The Arm

Rhodes would trap the arm and look for a back suplex, but Allin slipped free and tried to run up the ropes for an armdrag. Instead, he ended up on the mat in an armbar, and had to crawl to the ropes to break the hold. Allin would be mocked as Rhodes did pushups, and then be set up on top rope, and Rhodes took him down with a top rope shoulder breaker.

Rhodes went for a moonsault press, but Allin dodged. He’d dodge a stinger splash, and tried for a springboard coffin drop, being caught in a German Suplex hold. Allin slipped out and hit the Yoshi-Tonic for a near fall. Rhodes came right back with a superkick, and tried for Cross Rhodes. While fighting out, the middle turnbuckle got exposed and Rhodes hit the corner, Allin rolling up for a two count.

Allin went back to the top rope, but got a clubbing blow to the back before Rhodes bit his arm? What followed was an Avalanche Cross Rhodes, but Allins arm was out of bounds when Rhodes tried to pin him. Rhodes couldn’t follow right up, and Allin caught his breath and jumped onto Rhodes back for a sleeper. Allin would be taken to the top rope with Rhodes, who falled back, but Allin slipped outside to the floor. Arn Anderson urged him to stay down, but Allin broke the ten count.

    Darby Allin Won’t Give Up

Rhodes went right back to it and scoop slammed Allin again and again, finally getting back to his groove. He’d get the Gorilla Press, and slam Allin down, but he couldn’t pin him. Rhodes grabbed his weight belt and wanted to whip Allin, but he dropped it, Allin tripped Rhodes with it and got a near fall. He’d go for Last Supper after countering the disaster kick, getting two. A stunner and a Coffin Drop later, Rhodes kicked out at two. That was Allin’s best shots, but Rhodes is still standing.

Rhodes hit a pump kick and tried for Cross Rhodes. Allin countered into a pinfall, and they’d rock back and forth getting two counts, until Allin got the three count! Rhodes didn’t put Allin away, and now had to hand that TNT Championship to its new owner. Will Darby Allin have a long reign as TNT Champion? Not if Team Taz has their way.

After the match, Rhodes & Allin would be confronted by Taz, who would distract as Ricky Starks & Brian Cage beat them down, and try to break Allins arm in the car Allin took the ring, but Will Hobbs made the save. Who will get the first shot at Allin, Hobbs, Cage or Starks? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
