Over the last few weeks, fans have seen more and more of Angelico & Jack Evans of TH2. They beat Top Flight on Dynamite before taking The Young Bucks to their limits last week. Reaching even higher this week, Angelico is in a rare singles match. His opponent is none other than former two time TNT Champion, Cody Rhodes.

Rhodes has a lot on his plate right now, with Shaq, Team Taz and Sting on his mind. Add in the announcement that Brandi Rhodes is now pregnant with his first child, and there’s a lot on his mind! Could Angelico take advantage of his distracted opponent tonight and get the biggest win of his career?

    Angelico Keeps A Steady Control

Angelico was able to take advantage early with an arm drag, Rhodes really seeming off his game but was able to get an armbar into an armdrag. They’d match each other briefly in technical wrestling, Rhodes proving to be Angelico’s equal. This slow approach arguably favored Rhodes, but Angelico hit another armdrag and took time to taunt.

Arn urged Rhodes to remain calm, as Angelico tried to sucker Cody in on the mat. Rhodes fell for this, Angelico quickly countered but Rhodes got to the ropes. They’d run the ropes, both men gaining speed until Rhodes hit the big dropkick. Rhodes would be run into the corner and dropped with a mid-kick, Angelico really keeping the pressure on, and Jack Evans got involved before being shoved away by Arn Anderson.

Rhodes managed a big chop before being dropped with a series of strikes, before Angelico tried for a crucifix pin before being countered. He’d try for the back suplex and Rhodes countered, flipping behind and tripping Angelico up.

    Cody Rhodes Goes The Distance

Now back in control, Rhodes would use some big lariats and a bigger powerslam, before pulling the weight belt off and throwing it away. He countered a kick from Angelico, dropped and went for the throat thrust before being locked in a submission. His arms were trapped and Rhodes used his mouth to grab the ropes.

Some boots to the face would just annoy Rhodes, who went for the Disaster Kick but countered into a Dragon Screw. Angelico applied the Navarro Leg Lock, and Rhodes barely made the bottom rope. He’d get frustrated and not go back to this hold with more damage done, and Cody was able to recover, hit the drop down throat thrust but not the Cross Rhodes.

That would be countered but Rhodes was flung to the corner, and set up the Cody Cutter. He nailed it, and that closed this shockingly excellent match out. Afterwards, Team Taz would crash the party. Taz mocked Rhodes for being excited about being a dad soon, Starks called Allin ‘turtle boy’, Taz said Cage would tear him apart.

They’d look to swarm Cody, but Sting made the save again, and Powerhouse Hobbs was the only one not frozen in fear. Will Hobbs take a shot at Sting soon? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
