At Final Battle 2020, Tony Deppen came very close to winning the ROH World TV Championship off Dragon Lee. However, to get another shot he needs to start getting wins over men like tonight’s opponent, Kenny King.
King is riding high based on some tag team success alongside Dragon Lee, but he’ll be all alone tonight against an unpredictable Deppen. That is, except for Amy Rose in his corner and all of L.F.I lurking around at ringside as well, except for ROH World Champion RUSH.
Tony Deppen Has A Quick Flash Before Being Overpowered
Code of Honor would be adhered too, but King suckered him in for a right hand smash. Deppen would be hit with a headbutt in the corner, before King hit a snap suplex and rained down some closed fist punches to the face. These are completely legal in non-Pure matches, but Deppen was able to come back with a Mexican Style springboard armdrag, nearly sending King out of the ring.
King came back quick, overpowering Deppen and nailing a huge gutbuster. Deppen would become a toy for King, as he did some bicep curls before hitting a backbreaker. King would apply a cobra twist on the mat, and just gouge at the eyes and face of Deppen. Referee Todd Sinclair would berate King for this as we went to a commercial break.
Back from the break, Deppen got a quick roll up after dodging a kick from King, before taking a Double K Spinebuster. During the break, LFI helped keep King in control, and he’d look for Royal Flush. Deppen slipped out and hit the spinning elbow on the jaw, before peppering him with strikes. He’d manage to fake out King and kick him in the knee.
Kenny King Gets Cocky
Deppen would size King up for the running knee strike out of the corner, once again luring King in before tripping him and hitting a double stomp to the back. King was in trouble, having his legs swept before Deppen came through the middle of the ropes to hit a senton. Deppen went up top for a double stomp, but King dodged and took a knee to the jaw all the same.
King slipped to the outside, but Deppen followed and hit a tornado DDT. Back in the ring, he got the double stomp off the top rope, but King managed to kick out at two. Deppen would slip off the ropes looking for a springboard, before being hit with a chinchecked and tiger bomb. King broke the pin himself at two, getting cocky and wanting to end it with Royal Flush, and Deppen countered into a small package for the win.
After the match, L.F.I would beat Deppen down. Brody King made the save, still pissed at L.F.I after Final Battle. RUSH came in, but was dropped with a Brodie Lee style sidewalk slam, but L.F.I was too much even for him. They’d set up a table, and Bestia Del Ring hit a senton off the top rope through King.
What is next for Brody King? Will Tony Deppen get a shot at Dragon Lee’s ROH TV Championship? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
