Dalton Castle has not been getting the results he’s wanted lately. He’s been losing every big match he gets, and enough is enough. Tonight, he meets Josh Woods in a Pure Rules rematch. Woods is among the top ranked Pure Wrestlers in ROH, while Castle isn’t even ranked. Last time they met, Woods tapped him out in the middle of the ring.
Castle knows that he can win this match, and has a plan in mind. But if this plan doesn’t work out? He’s done with Ring of Honor, feeling he doesn’t have a place in this company. This is a must win match for Dalton Castle, but just another match for Josh Woods.
Josh Woods Storms The Castle
Code of Honor would be adhered to, Woods & Castle wasting no time. Castle went right for the takedown, but Woods blocked first. Woods would be taken down, but pivoted out and grabbed the arm as he went to the back of Castle. Castle was thrown off the ropes and tripped, but was able to get a pinfall for a near fall.
Woods would take control with a double wrist lock, before being thrown off the ropes. Castle tried to dive onto Woods, got taken down and locked in The Gorilla Lock, forcing him to crawl to the ropes to break free. Woods was piefaced by Castle, and came back with a boot to the face. There was little pure wrestling to follow, as Castle pulled Woods out of the ring and threw him over the barricade as a commercial break came and went.
Back from the break, Castle was still in control after hitting an exploder suplex on the outside. He’d miss a running knee strike on Woods, who came back with a springboard enzuigiri. Woods battered Castle with hard strikes in the corner before a twisting butterfly suplex for a two count.
Dalton Castle Runs His Plan
Woods went for The Gorilla Lock, and again Castle needed to grab the ropes. He has one rope break left, and this hold is burning his chances of victory in a hurry. Woods picked Castle up for a knee strike, but Castle slipped out and went for Bang-A-Rang, but Woods countered. This is the same way he beat him last time, and Castle had it scouted, countering the attempt at Gorilla Lock with a pinfall.
Castle sold the back after hitting the ropes, and Woods got concerned for a moment. This was the plan, fake the injury and get a Small Package for the win. Castle breaks his big match losing streak, and wins his first Pure Rules match. Was this an honorable way to win a Pure Rules match? No. Did it work? Absolutely.
After the match, Silas Young was back with some words for his student. Woods would ask where Young has been, and Young reminded him that when he pushed him away he lost in the tournament. Young would remind him that he blew a chance at Final Battle to get a title shot. Tonight Woods made him look like a fool. Young knows that Woods needs more training, and suggests they get back into the tag team ranks to learn more.
