QT Marshall was sick of being one of the hardest working men in AEW, yet only being known as “Cody Rhodes friend”, so he did something about it. He took Rhodes down, and plucked some very dangerous men from The Nightmare Family to form The Factory. Now with Nick Comoroto, Aaron Solow, and Anthony Ogogo at his back, he faces Cody Rhodes in what should be a heated Grudge Match. When they had an exhibition match, Rhodes showed that he could easily beat Marshall, so will that be the case tonight?
QT Marshall & Cody Rhodes Put On A Solid Contest
As soon as Rhodes hit the ring, he’d go right after Marshall and hit the drop down throat thrust before looking for a delayed vertical suplex. Rhodes wanted to get Marshall with his belt, but the referee stopped him, only for Marshall to get him with a crack from his own belt. Marshall would have his back raked, before Rhodes hit a running elbow strike.
Rhodes went to the top rope, and Marshall took Rhodes down with the double underhook suplex off the top rope, before hitting a deadlift German Suplex. On the outside, Marshall got into the face of Arn Anderson, who hit a chop and drove the face of Marshall into the ring post. He’d be sent to the back, and back in the ring, Marshall nailed a dropkick, before some quick punches to the face.
They’d brawl to the outside, and Red Velvet held Marshall’s arms back as Rhodes took a cheap shot. He’d get Rhodes back with a slingshot into the bottom rope, before they’d crash in the middle of the ring with crossbodies.
Marshall hit a big boot to the face of Rhodes, sending him the apron but Rhodes came back in with a sunset flip. Rhodes just managed to make QT Marshall moon the audience, and then hit a DDT. He’d go up top and hit the twisting moonsault onto Marshall, but the Cody Cutter was countered into a Cross Rhodes from Marshall.
He’d get a buckle bomb and look for the tombstone piledriver instead, but Rhodes countered and dropped him for the two count. Rhodes followed up with Cross Rhodes, but again QT Marshall kicked out. He’d apply the figure four, and Marshall tagged out.
This one was so much better than it first looked. QT Marshall had his best match yet in AEW, looking the equal of Rhodes here on a technical standpoint. However, there wasn’t enough to make this one much better than average. Match Rating: 3.25/5 (*** 1/4)
After the match, Anthony Ogogo punched Cody Rhodes in the gut, and put the England flag over this body. Is that Cody Rhodes next big match? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
