Former MLW wrestler Teddy Hart was picked up on drug possession on February 11th in Richmond, Virginia. The 40-year old was booked earlier this morning on charges of “possession of a schedule III narcotics and possession with intent to sell or distribute.” This Isn’t Hart’s First Rodeo What exactly Hart was going to do with the drugs, who knows. A schedule III drug is typically accepted for medical use and is viewed are considered “very addictive.” Xanax, steroids, Vicodin, and Suboxone are included in this class. By state law, it’s a Class I misdemeanor and Teddy Hart could be looking at fines…
Recently, Ken Shamrock, the “World’s Most Dangerous Man,” has been announced for the Impact Hall of Fame. As you know, I have a thing about wrestling hall of fames for the most part. Well, that was more about WWE’s hall of fame but there is one glaring thing about Impact Wrestling’s greatest historical honor that irks me. There’s Room In The Hall of Fame I’m not the only one who noticed this. There have been a number of names that came through that curtain and wrestled in The Asylum, The Impact Zone, and everywhere else. They’ve been King of the Mountain, they’ve risked it all in…
The situation with the Hardy Boyz’s contract status is an interesting one. The duo’s WWE contracts come up March 1st and it appears that there is no interest on the company’s end to renew Matt Hardy’s deal. What does the future hold for the Hardys in roughly two weeks’ time? The Hardy Boyz On Hold Currently, Jeff Hardy is scheduled to return from a lengthy period of recouping from a leg injury. The injury was picked up in April of last year and resulted in the Hardy Boyz relinquishing their WWE SmackDown Tag Titles in late April. With Jeff out of action, Matt was on house show…
The Xtreme Football League kicked off its inaugural reboot season Saturday, February 8th with the Seattle Dragons take on the D.C Defenders. This game showcased both the gameplay of the league and the hiccups the rules cause. When I say there were so many flags tossed, I’m not exaggerating. However, the first XFL game was pretty exciting. The XFL’s rules were probably more understandable on paper than in action. Let’s get into what stood out from the Xtreme Football League’s first game of the 2020 season. Expectations of the XFL Off the bat, I wasn’t expecting a return of XFL 2001. That approach was exciting and new at the start, fell apart early on and failed at…
Here’s a show that isn’t on the Network but would make for a good but cruel April Fool’s Day episode of AEW Dynamite. Let’s head Into the Vault for AWE Night of The Legends! This was a show that happened on October 15, 2011, and was on PPV. Should people have paid for it? Let’s find out! Actually, no. Scrap that. No one should’ve paid for this PPV. If you did, you got got and you already know this. It’s been over eight years, now. Let’s just look at the show. You Can Skip These Matches Oof…where to begin? AWE Night of Legends had eight…
I’ve been watching old WWE television from the early 90s over the week and it all cemented on thing I’ve always said: Jack Tunney is the worst commissioner in WWE history. I’ve heard it said that Sgt. Slaughter was the worst or HBK as commissioner was bad. Neither of those two was particularly good with the power invested in them but both were better than Jack Tunney. The Driest Commissioner Ever After basically giving WWE a foothold in Canada—which would result in market dominance before the decade was out—Tunney was brought into WWE as the head of Canadian tours. A very specific…
Old school wrestling fans hold the Memphis territory’s television program as one of the best examples of TV booking. I’ve watched a ton of Memphis from the 80s and 90s and—well, let’s look at what made Memphis TV great and what was bad about it as well as old school TV in general. The Good of Memphis Wrestling TV What was so great about Memphis wrestling was how Jerry Jarrett booked the big feuds each week. Continental ran the studio wrestling approach and TV featured a lot of promos and short bouts. The thing that shined on Memphis wrestling TV…
When watching 80s and 90s wrestling television, you’ll sit through a lot of squash matches. Some of my favorites involved tag teams. You knew how the match would end most of the time: the tag finisher. On occasion, you something great like a match that ends while the over wrestlers are still entering. A match that stood out to me was newly-crowned U.S champion Ric Flair vs. Jim Powers on WCW Nitro July 8, 1996. Jim Powers Arrives in WCW Flair and Powers had a few matches prior to this one in WWE. Their first showdown was for Ric Flair’s WWE debut in September 1991 on Wrestling Challenge. WWE had a number of TV shows during…
WWE has had plenty of angles that should be locked away in the video vault. This can be down to some angles just not aging well or were so bad from an entertaining and story viewpoint that it’s best to just forget it happened. One angle that should be extracted from the June 25, 2001 edition of WWE Raw was the recently-returned Edge eating Billy Gunn alive on the mic. Edge Runs Billy Gunn Down So, it’s the summer of 2001, Edge has just won the King of the Ring. He’s in the ring with fellow KOTR competitor and regular tag partner Christian. The…
Growing up I was always a WCW fan. As a result, I missed a lot of Undertaker’s run between 1990-1996 and wouldn’t go through it until years later. When I first came across the Undertaker, Paul Bearer was taunting Taker with a secret about his family’s death. We’ll dive into that in a bit. One thing that always confused me was Undertaker’s powers. Now, 12-year-old me loved this stuff. I was a fan of comics, manga, and fantasy novels so The Undertaker immediately appealed to me. He was a comic book character come to life—one of the darker ones that…
