I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.

A company funded by a billionaire running a show that at it’s very peak was being watched by seven million people doesn’t kill itself. To let a giant like WCW sink, you have to display a very special kind of stupidity. People have spent much of the last 20 years recounting the myriad of stupid decisions that all helped put WCW under. Of the many many massive, recurring elements, perhaps the most appalling was a constant failure to understand the talent that they had, the potential stars that were right there in the palm of their hands. Many of these…

So, yesterday I published an article on Jordan Myles. To summarize, they produced a T-Shirt for the winner of the NXT Breakout Tournament that he has since declared to be racist. He did so publicly, calling them out on twitter for their racial insensitivity. As noted, a very upset Myles had known about the shirt for some time, probably around the point of August. This was when it was announced that NXT would be jumping to USA, and an influx of new shirts were created in very short order, the first round of merch for many, many new talents. To…

So the launch of WWE 2K20 has been, in simplest terms, a complete and utter debacle. As a fan of video games and wrestling games specifically, it’s a disappointing thing to see. As an unabashed, shameless lover of garbage, I’m ecstatic about it. The more serious side of this has been spoken about, and 2K Games finally responded to the trending #FixWWE2K20 onslaught a couple of days ago: https://twitter.com/WWEgames/status/1187810908543827970?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw Soooo it’s gonna get fixed eventually, probably, to some degree. That being the case, I think it best for this article to just bask in how ridiculous this launch was. There…

The world is still reeling from several nights ago, where we perhaps saw, without any hyperbole, the most shocking moment in NXT history. The Undisputed Era were in the ring, reigning terror as usual when Tomasso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano came out to confront them, in spite of the 4-on-2 odds. That’s when Finn Balor, who had previously confronted the NXT Champion Adam Cole, arrived to seemingly back them up. As the threesome stared the foursome down, I’m sure many were anticipating the next man in. Surely someone else was also on the way to even up the odds. It…

So, full disclosure… I don’t think this new merch was at all intended to be racially charged. Jordan Myles has had a lot of focus on his cheery demeanor, with the phrase “Smiles For Miles” being a slogan of sorts that they’re pushing. I’m sure that’s all that the design of his first T-Shirt is meant to get across. And it should be noted that a lot of merch for NXT’s influx of talent has been criticized for seemingly being very rushed and lazily done. It’s a result of having to do a ton of new designs in a short…

Though he came up short at Bound For Glory, he’s now finally done it. Sami Callihan, who in my estimation has been the top heel in Impact for all of 2019, and not that long ago was one of the most talked about, controversial figures in the business, is now Impact World Champion. He defeated Brian Cage in, fittingly, a Steel Cage match to take the title. Though in most cases the idea of having a champ retain at the theoretically biggest show of the year only to lose the title days after would be ludicrous, this is a special…

WWE Backstage is a curious show. It’s technically set to have it’s premiere on November 5 on Fox Sports 1. However they’ve been airing half hour ‘previews’ on FS1 for the last couple of weeks, and it’s different if nothing else. Essentially, it’s a studio show paneled by Renee Young, Booker T, Christian and Paige, and of course involves other special guests, where they analyze WWE’s shows ESPN-style. But it also has a tendency to break the fourth wall, which is interesting. I wouldn’t call it a ‘shoot’ show, but it definitely exists on a slightly different plane of reality.…

The big triumphant return to the ring, after months or even years of time away… it’s a moment that gets remembered for ages to come. A monumental occasion, a turning point moment that defines the next step of a performer’s career. That… is not what this article is about. Here, I’ll document just a taste, five of the most obscure, forgotten WWE return runs for former stars. Rather than try and rank them I’ll sort them by recency, with the most recent being last, and the oldest being first. I think it makes for a pretty unique list, so let’s…

Ever since NXT stopped being the name of the ridiculous reality show for WWE rookies and started being the most successful developmental territory in WWE’s history, it’s built itself around many a unique talent. And several names of NXT’s past and present have gone down as icons of the black and yellow brand. The likes of Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, Bo Dallas, Johnny Gargano, Tomasso Ciampa, Adam Cole, The Revival, American Alpha, Paige, Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Asuka, Bayley and so on and so forth… their legacies forever entwined with NXT. But as always in wrestling, for every major name,…

Randy Orton has been making a stir of late. It’s fairly well known that the multi-time WWE world champion and former WrestleMania main eventer is in the last year of his WWE contract. Orton actually signed a crazy 10 year deal at the start of 2010 that, perhaps through injury, has seemingly been extended to June of 2020 in some reports. He made some headlines earlier this year when it got out that he’d turned down some massive offers to extend his contract. Recently, Orton posted a picture of himself on Instagram clearly designed to get people thinking about his…
