I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.
Jake Hager is a storied and increasingly controversial figure these days. A former World Heavyweight Champion in WWE under his old Jack Swagger persona, Hager’s wrestling career took something of a back seat in recent years with his growing focus on his MMA career. Once named an All-American in collegiate wrestling back in his days at the University of Oklahoma, and set the record for most pins in a season at 30, it’s not too surprising that he’s done well for himself in mixed martial arts. However, he hasn’t exactly gone out of his way to endear himself to followers…
After AEW Dynamite went off the air earlier this week, with a main event between PAC and Jon Moxley ending in a time limit draw, the action didn’t cease. The last thing we saw was Moxley giving the Paradigm Shift to referee Paul Turner, as Mox shared the audience’s fury at the finish. As was shown in the extended replay two days later, after the broadcast concluded, PAC jumped Moxley until Kenny Omega surprisingly emerged to make the save. And then, as PAC made his way up the ramp, he encountered none other than Hangman Page. https://twitter.com/AEWrestling/status/1187918823124602882 The challenge was…

Eddie says what happened the other week, with the Dawsons attacking him, he’s not into it, we’re talking about the oldest championships in the world. Says the NWA was smart enough not to take their title shots away, congratulations…
Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the live blow-by-blow on another episode of WWE SmackDown as it occurs! This one comes to us from FS1 due to the MLB World Series pre-empting them from FOX. You can see my preview of the show here. Watch this space! Here’s a rundown of what’s in store for SmackDown’s foray onto FS1 tonight! And yes, it’s been pre-empted from FOX due to the ongoing MLB World Series. They’ve tried to counterbalance this with a lot of big names so let’s see what’s on tap! This show of course is the hardsell for Crown Jewel which will be taking place next week on Halloween night, October 31st. This falls on a Thursday. It appears the plan right now is actually to fly everyone back from Saudi Arabia for SmackDown that next night. I do not envy anything about this schedule. As…
Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here with some more recaption, this time for episode 2 of NWA Powerrr! We of course start off with a recap of last week’s events; Nick Aldis defeating Tim Storm, Kamille being wiped out and then Aldis refusing to have her comment. Marquez introduces Aaron Stevens, the former Damien Sandow! Marquez points out that he hasn’t been in the squared circle in some time! Stevens plays to the crowd, introducing himself to the NWA. He says in the past few years he’s had a lot of success in film, television and theater, and doing that…
Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here and today I’ll be recapping the first three episodes of NWA Powerrr! We of course begin with the premiere where Tim Storm has his last-ever shot at the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, his blowoff encounter with Nick Aldis! We begin with a brief history lesson before David Marquez introduces Aldis and his charge Kamille. Marquez says they’ve gotten to know each other well, been all over the world together, asks what this all means to him. Aldis says an incredibly brilliant man once said it’s so hard to be humble. And now that he’s…
NWA Powerrr is a fascinating phenomenon. It’s a classic wrestling show in just about every sense, with one little caveat: it’s distributed through YouTube! But aside from that, you’ve got a pure studio show, based out of the Georgia Public Broadcasting Studios. It’s under an hour every week. And aside from the distribution, the only telltale signs that this is actually from the modern day is the video quality and the roster they’ve assembled. Of course going for the nostalgia pop is nothing new. But this isn’t about that. The roster isn’t filled with old-timers that can’t go, though it…

Hey there wrestling fans, and welcome to week 4 of the vaunted Wednesday Night Wars! Here’s a real quick preview of tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite! We have the AEW World Tag Team Tournament Semi-Finals awaiting us; the very popular SCU vs. the less-than-adored Dark Order, and the Lucha Bros. vs Private Party! AEW’s tag division is always a highlight and tonight should be no different, with the latter match in particular looking like a show stealer in the making. Can the still battered SCU overcome the advantage that the Dark Order have gained in their bye to the semi…
