I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.

Yes, you saw that headline correctly – WWE have tried and failed to buy out Pro Wrestling NOAH. Over the past few years, WWE have continued their rapid expansion into becoming a truly global promotion. The most major move was arguably the launching of NXT UK. While this led to plenty of great shows and matches, and gave a big spotlight to many unique and talented performers, it also saw WWE effectively monopolize the UK wrestling scene. They signed up practically every relevant name and slowly pulled them from indy shows, until many of them ended up going out of…

Before I get into this article, it should be noted that this year’s iteration of the WWE Draft really seemed to work differently than the annual event used to in the mid-2000s. Back in those days, only actual moves were noted. If you weren’t drafted, it was naturally a given that you were remaining on the show you started on. This time around was different, however. While they always try to avoid explaining things that make them seem incompetent if you harped on them, WWE seemed to be operating on the notion that the Wildcard Rule had already completely destroyed…

WWE Backstage is currently airing on FS1 with a ‘preview’ of sorts, a shorter version of what they’ll be doing later on I suppose. The decently hyped WWE studio show kicked off with a panel consisting of Renee Young, Booker T, Christian and Paige. They later introduced Triple H so that he could announce the previously indicated ‘blockbuster trade’ between Raw and SmackDown. Triple H then confirmed that Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross are being traded to SmackDown. These two were, confoundingly, initially drafted to Raw separately using two picks. This is despite the fact that tandems could be drafted…

Four months ago, Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff were named Executive Directors of Raw and SmackDown respectively. This was the start of an attempt to revamp the product, atleast in image, an initiative which seems to still be a work-in-progress even now. Heyman was already involved with Raw creatively and seemed to genuinely have a bit more power over time. It would always be Vince’s show, but Heyman atleast seemed to be directly under him. Bischoff on the other hand, seemed an odd move at the time, and even now doesn’t appear to have a legitimate answer. Anytime someone in…

Ladies and gentlemen, tonight is the conclusion of the WWE Draft. Last week’s first part was uh… it was a draft. Tonight will be more draft. Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to recap the blow-by-blow, let’s go! Becky Lynch is out here first. She announces that the Man has come around to Denver. As the overall first draft pick, she showed up here fully expecting to kick Sasha Banks all over Colorado. But it turns out she can’t make it ’cause of the last beating that I gave her. Instead, the woman she’ll be fighting tonight, she just…

Mike Kanellis and his wife Maria have had something of a whirlwind year. Most of it, unfavorable. At the start of 2019, they had merely been two of the most deeply underutilized talents on WWE’s roster, which is really saying something. And Maria in particular had been very vocally displeased with this, constantly tweeting her frustrations at WWE for their lack of screen time and opportunity. Of course, how much you see from wrestlers on social media is real and how much is in-character is often a little blurry. People play up angles online all the time, and their discontentment…

NXT is always a popular show and brand for hardcore wrestling fans, for good reason. It’s a fresh, quality product. It is in many ways the best case scenario of WWE, showing what Raw or SmackDown could be like if talent was better used. It’s what WWE as a whole would look like, if it were more in-tune with it’s fanbase. And ever since the move to USA in particular, the weekly NXT show has been a big hit critically. This was needed, as they were gearing up for a full scale war with AEW. The shows which have been…

Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to recap the commencement of the 2019 WWE Draft! What more do I have to say?! Watch this space for the blow-by-blow and of course, the announcement of every pick! Startin’ off big… SmackDown’s Roman Reigns vs. Raw’s Seth Rollins (Non-title, winner’s brand gets the first pick in the draft) Lock-up, Rollins gets a side headlock. Reigns shoots him to the ropes, shoulder block. Tie up again, Rollins gets a hammerlock, Reigns reverses into a back suplex, Rollins escapes with a hip toss. Rollins with a roll-up, quick kickout, Reigns dumped, baseball slide, Rollins…

It’s time we talked about Vince McMahon. Days ago, ahead of WWE’s Hell In A Cell event, one of the promotions many social media accounts posted a poll, as they often do. This poll asked the fans what they felt the result would be of the Hell In A Cell main event, featuring Seth Rollins defending his Universal title against the Fiend in the titular Cell match. The options were Pin, Submission or DQ. Those that noticed this largely blew it off. Laughed. A DQ finish in a Hell In A Cell match, what a joke! Had to be nothing…
