New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and the New Japan of American (NJoA) subsidiary open the Detonation tour with Road to Detonation on November 27, 2020, coming off the Showdown tour that came to an end on last weeks New Japan Strong episode.

The opening series match of the event saw Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan (1-1) of the Empire take on Bad Luck Fale and “Crown Jewel” Chase Owens (0-2) of the Bullet Club. Both teams were coming off a loss during their previous tournament match. Due to their slow start, Fale/Owens needed a victory to keep a realistic chance of qualifying for the WTL 2020 Finals alive, while Cobb/O-Khan could set themselves up near the top of the table with a win.

The tour finale of New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) Showdown took place on Friday during New Japan Strong. The marquee match saw former NEVER Openweight Champion, New Japan Cup 2020 winner, and Bullet Club member Kenta defend the right to make the V3 challenge of IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley’s second reign with the title against David Finlay.

The marquee event of the New Japan Showdown 2020 Night 2 event and the tour finale sees former NEVER Openweight Champion, New Japan Cup USA 2020, and Bullet Club member Kenta defend his right to make the V3 challenge of Jon Moxley’s second reign with the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship against David Finlay.

The second tournament match of the event saw the CHAOS team of two-thirds of the reigning NEVER Openweight 6-Man Champions Hirooki Goto/Yoshi-Hashi attempt to pick up their first points of the tournament against the Empire team of Jeff Cobb/Great-O-Khan.
