It’s time for another night of World Tag League action, as we start to get a clear picture of who will be crucial to this tournament. EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi, Guerillas of Destiny, The Empire, and SANADA & Shingo Takagi all come into tonight in the lead with six points, and look to rise even higher.

World Tag League 2020 Match: FinJuice (David Finlay & Juice Robinson) vs. BULLET CLUB (Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens)

Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens are one of the teams who have yet to win a match, but could easily reverse their fortunes tonight. FinJuice has gone 2-2, and could have an easy path to 6 points through this match, on their way to a hopeful repeat win.

It’s easy to predict the game plan against a team like Fale & Owens. You simply keep Fale away from the ring, and your chances of victory go through the roof. FinJuice were doing great at this, using their teamwork to take out Fale when able and focusing on Owens. This was until Fale got in and hit the Grenade on Finlay with an assist from Owens, and scored a nearly instant pinfall. Fale is sick of losing, and is taking the helm, and two points as well.

    Match Rating: 2.5/5 (** ½)

World Tag League 2020 Match: BULLET CLUB (EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi) vs. HenarACE (Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toa Henare)

Unlike Fale & Owens, EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi have been having a nearly perfect run, and that might continue tonight. HenarACE has failed to win a single match, and they might kiss their chance at the finals goodbye if they don’t start winning now. Can Tanahashi bring this team to the Tokyo Dome?

Up to this point in the tournament, the knee of Tanahashi was a serious bother. However tonight, he looked to be in prime form and his performance showed this. Combine a healthier Tanahashi with a hunger for a win, and that’s what this team needed. They took everything EVIL & Takahashi threw at them, and gave it back double. Tanahashi looked fantastic, and Henare got the pinfall on Takahashi to get this team their first two points in an impressive showing.

    Match Rating: 3.5/5 (*** ½)

World Tag League 2020 Match: Guerrillas Of Destiny (Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa) vs. CHAOS (Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano)

As two of the more steady units in recent years, this isn’t the first time Ishii & Yano have met G.O.D in the World Tag League, but have never beaten them in the tournament. They’ve otherwise always lost to Ishii & Yano, including a few times in the Tokyo Dome. G.O.D has the confidence of having beaten the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions in their last match, could that help them out?

Things were frankly going perfect for G.O.D in this match. They were able to limit the amount of time they had to deal with the hard hitting Tomohiro Ishii, and were able to focus on Toru Yano and avoid his dastardly tricks. The only mistake they made was not putting him away sooner. After wrestling a near perfect match, they’d look to use Jado’s kendo stick to deliver the final blow as the referee was distracted. Instead, Yano dodged, Loa got a face full of that, Yano got the low blow and rollup for the win, pushing he & Ishii to six points.

    Match Rating: 3/5 (***)

World Tag League 2020 Match: Dangerous Tekkers (Taichi & Zack Sabre Jr.) vs. The Empire (Great-O-Khan & Jeff Cobb)

The Empire are the new team on the block, and they have made great strides in this tournament. Now comes the real test, as they face off with Dangerous Tekkers, the reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. How will they fare with their biggest challenge yet?

Dangerous Tekkers aren’t stupid, and came ready for a huge fight here. They were obviously outmatched in terms of power, but they knew they were absolutely the better tag team. Their teamwork in this match was nothing short of incredible, always being there to bail each other out as they slowly but surely picked away at Cobb & O-Khan, ZSJ using his technical skills to slip around into submissions out of big power moves, while Taichi threw heavy kicks.

They never lost their heads, showed why they were champions and took O-Khan out with Zack Mephisto. Dangerous Tekkers move up to six points.

    Match Rating: 4/5 (****)

World Tag League 2020 Match: CHAOS (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) vs. Los Ingobernables de Japón (SANADA & Shingo Takagi)

In tonight’s main event, YOSHI-HASHi & Hirooki Goto are taking on Shingo Takagi & SANADA. These are two teams who could make it all the way to the finals, having noticed some impressive wins, but CHAOS is a step behind coming into this one. If they want to keep up, they need to drop one of the most dynamic duos in the tournament.

From the moment the bell rang, these two teams were evenly matched. They went blow for blow with each other, throwing everything they have at each other. Segments focused on Goto & Shingo were nothing short of incredible. It would simply come down to YOSHI-HASHI being an exploitable weak link. Near the end, Goto was taken out with a Pumping Bomber which sent him over the top rope, and then YOSHI-HASHI was isolated. He’d survive a Pumping Bomber & TKO, get a rollup attempt but then fall to Skull End. This win pushes SANADA & Shingo to eight points, making them the leaders in this tournament.

    Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** ¾)
