Ladies and gentlemen, Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here for the live coverage of tonight’s event, and it’s a big one – the WWE Royal Rumble! You’ll be able to see recaps and results for tonight’s show below! Let’s get this going!
Kickoff Segment 1: Sheamus defeated Shorty G.
Kickoff Segment 2: Andrade defeated Humberto Carrillo to retain the WWE United States Championship.
Segment 1: King Corbin faces Roman Reigns in a Falls Count Anywhere match to open the show. In a very elaborate match that included the use of a port-a-potty, Roman Reigns took the win, spearing Corbin onto the dugout to finish him off.
Segment 2: Women’s Royal Rumble match is next! Alexa Bliss and Bianca Belair started out the match. The latter lasted over half an hour and broke the record for eliminations in a single women’s rumble match! Shayna Baszler drew #30 and cleared the ring with half a dozen eliminations in quick succession. However, Charlotte Flair managed to barely edge her out and take the win!
Segment 3: Bayley defends the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Lacey Evans. In a clearly designed cooldown in front of a mostly dead crowd, Bayley got the cheap win, getting the boots up on a moonsault and rolling her up with a grab of the tights for the retain.
Segment 4: Daniel Bryan challenges the Fiend to a WWE Universal Championship Strap match. In what was pretty easily the best Fiend match to date – where they turned off the damn red lights coincidentally – Bray retained his Universal Championship in a gritty, physical contest.
Segment 5: Becky Lynch defended her WWE Raw Women’s Championship against Asuka. It was a brutal one, at one point the referee wanted to call the match for the sake of Becky’s health and protect her, but she managed to stop him. Becky then turned Asuka’s mist around on her and got her to submit to the Dis-harm-her to retain the title.
Segment 6: All that’s left now is the Men’s Royal Rumble match! And my God what a Rumble it was! The first half of it saw Brock Lesnar eliminate absolutely everybody one-by-one, until Drew McIntyre came in. Ricochet got him with a low blow, setting him up for a Claymore that took him out of the ring! From there, things got truly wild – Edge made his grand return!! He’s finally been cleared and he’s back! It was surreal from there. Roman Reigns barely managed to eliminate Edge, but Drew McIntyre overcame him and took the whole damn match!
