WWE Friday Night SmackDown is here! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the quick hits, the live recap and results from the show as they come!
Segment 1: John Morrison and the Miz come out to start the show with a live edition of the Dirt Sheet, the first episode of the series in over a decade. It promises that they will be the new tag team champions. The New Day interrupt, as do the Usos, leading to a brawl with Robert Roode and Dolph Ziggler.
Segment 2: The prior segment leads to a tag team match between The Usos and the team of Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler. The Usos got the victory in a pretty good if very spotty match.
Segment 3: Elias comes out to play again but Sami Zayn and Cesaro interrupt him once more, to nobody’s surprise. Cesaro storms down for a match with Elias, but the guitarist ultimately picks up the win after a solid bout.
Segment 4: King Corbin comes out, furious after being humiliated last week, railing on Roman Reigns for always needing help from the Usos to beat him. Roman Reigns runs him off and challenges him to a Steel Cage Match. Then we hear from Goldberg, who makes his intentions clear to go after the Fiend for the WWE Universal Championship at WWE Super Show-Down and Bray is quick to accept.
Segment 5: Backstage, Heath Slater is sitting in the locker room with Daniel Bryan. He’s trying to console him over his loss to the Fiend, but he’s a bumbling idiot and so can’t stop himself from saying all the wrong things and getting under Bryan’s skin. So he challenged him to a match, immediately. Thus, they went out there and predictably, Daniel Bryan kicked the everloving crap out of him, knocking him out essentially with the ref immediately calling for the bell the moment he get the LaBell Lock cinched in.
Segment 6: Braun Strowman comes out to celebrate his IC title win. Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura interrupt him. The Revival appear to be their usual henchmen selves, Shinsuke ends up laying out Braun with a Kinsasha.
Segment 7: Sheamus squashed Apollo Crews. Wants to attack him afterwards, Shorty G runs in for the save but gets a Brogue Kick as well. In the main event, Carmella defeated Naomi, Alexa Bliss and Dana Brooke to become the next No. 1 Contender to Bayley’s WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. Milliseconds afterwards, Bayley ran in to lay her out.
