Backlash is quickly approaching, and with it comes the second defense of Braun Strowman as Universal Champion. He is set to face off with John Corrosion, not The Fiend like many predicted. However, he must always look over his shoulder, as you can’t trust anyone who holds the Money In The Bank briefcase, not even Otis. Will Otis cash in at Backlash?
Otis Could Be Involved In A Mixed Tag Match
With how current story lines are playing out on Smackdown Live, it seems that Otis & Mandy Rose very well could face Dolph Ziggler & Sonya Deville again at the event. Sonya has beaten Mandy twice now, and has moved onto new targets, but is still consistently disgusted by Otis & Mandy on social media. That grudge isn’t over, and neither is the issues between Ziggler & Otis. Ziggler likely feels he should have both Mandy Rose & that Money In The Bank briefcase.
This would be a very entertaining mixed tag team contest, where the faces would likely overcome, with Rose getting the pin fall over Deville after multiple losses.
Will He Use His Shot For The Universal Championship?
It feels obvious, you win Money In The Bank briefcase, you try to win the nearest world championship. However, Otis has teased in interviews that he would instead use it to get Heavy Machinery a shot at the Smackdown Tag Team Championships. No mentions of this have been made recently however, nor have we seen much action from Otis & Tucker, with Otis focused on Mandy Rose. Another popular fan theory is that Otis will give his title shot to Mandy Rose, so she can go after Bayley and the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
Backlash Could Be The Best Chance For Otis To Cash In
With The Fiend waiting in the shadows for a shot at revenge on Braun Strowman, this defense against Morrison could be the best shot Otis has if he wants to become Universal Champion. Morrison will almost certainly pull out all the stops to bring Strowman to the limit, and could even use his veteran edge to beat the giant. No matter the result, Braun is likely to be tired in the end. It would be much easier to cash in on either victor of this match, then if he needs to try to beat The Fiend, something only Goldberg has done.
Do you think Otis will cash in at Backlash? Will he use his contract in a unique way instead of going for the Universal Championship? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
