There were a lot of wrestlers accused of sexual assault in the Speak Out movement. A lot of these wrestlers that were accused have now been let go from their company.
There is one wrestler that has surprisingly returned to NXT. This being Velveteen Dream, he was accused of sending multiple inappropriate messages through social media.
He did deny all claims and since then we haven’t heard from him. Until last night on NXT when he returned as part of the triple threat match for a chance to be part of the North American championship ladder match. It looks like WWE have decided to keep him with the company with this return.
Does he have a new gimmick?
Velveteen Dream Return with a slightly new look of a grey goatee less of the over the top flashy stuff of Velveteen Dream and made him stand but more aggression. This was confirmed after the match as he went crazy attacking Kushida and trying to attack the ref.
It feels very different to what we know about the past Velveteen Dream If both the new aggression characters combined with the flashiness of what made Velveteen Dream special in NXT. This could be a great return run for Velveteen Dream.
Surly he’s going to lose against Finn Balor
It feels like after the controversy. Velveteen Dream might not just come in and go back right up to the top. That being said, he was in the main event picture up against Adam Cole before he left. If he hasn’t done anything wrong, maybe putting him back into the main event is a good thing.
Fin Balor has beaten Velveteen Dream in the past but I don’t think that really matters. With Velveteen Dream’s new gimmick being kind of aggressive and unhinged, maybe this is the change that could put Velveteen Dream back into the main event picture.
