He might not be NXT Cruiserweight Champion, but Drake Maverick earned an NXT contract through his heart filled display in the tournament. Tonight though, he leaves the confines of the Cruiserweight division to face Killian Dain in singles action. He’s used to being the underdog, but can he beat the Beast Of Belfast?
Drake Maverick & Killian Dain Have A Brief Match
Action would begin with Maverick dodging Dain as best he could, the size advantage huge. He’d go for the legs of Dain with quick kicks and forearms in the corner, to little effect as Dain shrugged these off. A single strike from Dain would drop him quick, and he’d show Maverick a thing or two about working over a leg.
Maverick would try to rally back, only to be dropped with a lariat, and be scooped up only to be slammed down. We’d get to see the condition of Keith Lee, who would be loaded into an ambulance with Mia Yim by his side.
Back in the ring, Dain would start to be cut down by Maverick with some kicks, but again would be caught with ease. Maverick would dive off the top rope to the outside, after we saw the ambulance slip away as Undisputed Era made their way to the arena. A big senton dropped Dain, and Maverick would come off the top rope with an elbow drop. We wouldn’t know if this would end the match.
Undisputed Era Clears The Ring
Undisputed Era would rush the ring and take out both men with ease, taking the ring to call out Pat McAfee. He’d tell McAfee to listen up as he listed off the reasons why he’s going to lose if he’s got the guts to meet Cole at Takeover XXX.
Cole would invite McAfee to come to NXT next week to see him face to face, and see how deep he’s in. He’s not ready for Adam Cole, and that is undisputed.
Maverick vs. Dain was a very nothing match, barely being seen outside of picture in picture, which was mainly dominated by seeing Keith Lee be carted into an ambulance. If given time, there is the talent there for a fine David vs. Goliath matchup.
