Never say FTR doesn’t do anything for the AEW Tag Team division. Tonight they give SCU a chance to regain the AEW Tag Team Championships, despite not even being ranked in the Top 5! However, they will only have twenty minutes to do this, unlike the usual sixty minutes for title matches. If they can’t beat FTR in that time limit, it counts as a win for the champions and it’s back of the line for SCU, but a win makes them the first two time champions in company history.
Twenty Minute Brush With Greatness
This match would start with Kazarian & Harwood, showing some chain wrestling prowess, with the veteran getting the edge. Harwood would get back to his feet, but get dropped with a series of shoulder tackles and a big lariat. SCU was showing some great tag team chemistry, Sky coming in and hitting a big dropkick, but Wheeler would make the blind tag to keep his side fresh as well.
Sky would keep control on the side of SCU, and Wheeler would feign being tripped by Christopher Daniels to get him ejected. Sky was distracted, and Wheeler used this to get ahead in this match, but you couldn’t keep SCU down for long. FTR would meet on the outside after Harwood was sent over the top, with Wheeler shortly behind.
Kazarian would goad FTR to follow him, only for Sky to dive onto them, a perfectly laid trap. FTR can set traps as well, Harwood pulling Sky out of the ring and setting Wheeler up for a big lariat as we went to a commercial break. Throughout said break, FTR would have Sky fully isolated, and this one was slipping towards the champions.
FTR Just Needed To Keep Control
Sky would do his best to fight out, but Harwood would tag in and cut him off just before he got the tag. Wheeler would distract the referee after Sky got a rollup, saving the match. Sky would nail a russian leg sweep, and Kazarian was back in the match.
He’d clean house, taking the fight to both members of SCU, showing just how good a tag team wrestler he is. We’d hit the ten minute mark, meaning no matter what, this match is halfway over. FTR would work together to finally take Kazarian down, and he’d be isolated briefly but got the tag to Sky and SCU would nearly get the win after a knee to the face of Harwood.
Harwood came back with a European Uppercut, but Sky didn’t stay down long. SCU would hit cutters on both members of FTR, but they’d come back by powerbombing Kazarian on his neck before hitting a dragon suplex. FTR had something in mind off the top rope, but Wheeler would have Harwood shoved into him. They’d manage to get Kazarian set up for a doomsday device like move, but it’d be countered into a big powerslam for a near fall.
Tully Blanchard Is The Difference Maker
Sky would make the tag, and hit a diving crossbody on Wheeler for another close call. It’d be near fall after near fall, but Wheeler wouldn’t give up. Wheeler did what he could to stay out of the ring, and to get near Tully Blanchard. Sky would set up a suplex, Tully would trip him so Wheeler landed on top, and he’d hold the legs of Sky down, and FTR wins!
Who should get to face FTR next? Will AEW eventually ban Tully Blanchard from ringside? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
