G1 Climax 30 Night 6 saw CHAOS member Yoshi-Hashi face Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member Sanada in a match both were in desperate need to win.
Yoshi-Hashi began his G1 Climax 30 B Block campaign with a loss to two-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Juice Robinson and followed it up with a loss to former IWGP Heavyweight and IWGP Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ and Bullet Club member, Evil.
Sanada began his G1 Climax 30 campaign with a frustrating loss to CHAOS member and current KOPW (presumably King of Pro Wrestling) titleholder Toru Yano. He would follow up with a loss to another CHAOS member G1 Climax 18 winner, Hirooki Goto.
Sanada was one of the favorites to win G1 Climax 30 coming into the tournament, while many thought Yoshi-Hashi would continue to ride the momentum he gained after winning the first title of his career.
The pressure was more on Sanada, who did have difficulty putting Yoshi-Hashi away at times due to the amount of determination the CHAOS member was able to show, in what is becoming a staple for one-third of the current NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions.
While Sanada felt like he had one step up on Yoshi-Hashi throughout, he could never make his advantage turn into a fall. However, Yoshi-Hashi was able to gain the fall at the 15 minutes and 15 seconds mark after using his Karma technique.
Starting G1 Climax 30 at 0-3 was unexpected for Sanada, who came into the tournament with more momentum behind him than any other wrestler on the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) roster. However, he must win his next run of matches to have any chance of advancing to the finals.
The victory for Yoshi-Hashi continues his run of quality results over the past several months as he continues to take several steps forward in his career.
