New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) hosted the second night of the World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) tournament series in front of 1,433 fans at the Yoshitsune Arena within the Ishikawa Prefecture. As usual, during present times, the crowd number was reduced to fit NJPW’s COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety protocols.
The first tournament match of the event saw a battle between two Bullet Club teams. The former six-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and two-thirds of three NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champion teams Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga/Tanga Loa) [Guerillas of Destiny] took on the duo of “Rogue General” Bad Luck Fale/”Crown Jewel” Chase Owens.
Chase Owens was legal for his team the vast majority of the match after the two sides came together unified before the opening bell. Despite showing the tension within Bullet Club doesn’t extend to the five (GOD was accompanied by their manager Jedo), they didn’t hold back during the match.
GOD looked sharp as a tag team, being able to use their experience to get the advantage over Fale and Owens on numerous occasions. Tama Tonga would get the submission fall on Owens at the 10 minutes and 7 seconds mark with a Sharpshooter technique to move GOD to 1-1 and their first two points of WTL 2020.
Despite falling to 0-2, Fale/Owens put up a good showing, yet will need quick results to keep their trophy hopes alive. They went on to face the Empire duo of Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan on November 19th. GOD would go on to face fellow Bullet Club team Evil/Yujiro on the same night.
GOD remains as one of the favorites to win the WTL 2020 trophy, despite currently chasing down former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions FinJuice (Juice Robinson/David Finlay) after their series open loss to their rivals.
