Moments After The Beginning Of The November 20, 2020 Best Of The Super Juniors 27 Match Between Ryusuke Taguchi And Master Wato via New Japan Pro Wrestling  via New Japan Pro Wrestling

New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) continued Best of the Super Juniors 27 (BOSJ 27) on November 20, 2020, at the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan. The COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) reduced crowd of 696 showed excitement as the junior heavyweights entered a pivotal night of tournament action.

The third series match of the event saw former two-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and BOSJ 19 winner “Funky Weapon” Ryusuke Taguchi (1-1) [2 points] take on “Way to the Grand Master” Master Wato (2-0) [4 points]. Taguchi was coming off a November 18th loss to reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and Bullet Club member “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori, while Wato defeated CHAOS member “Sniper of the Skies” Robbie Eagles on the same night.

Wato’s quick start to his BOSJ 27 campaign put him in a darkhorse position to advance to the BOSJ 27 Finals, while Taguchi showed he still has the capability of taking his in-ring skills to another level during his first two matches of the tournament.

The match was extremely competitive, with Wato coming off as the superior wrestler at several points. However, Taguchi was able to use his experience to battle back against the young Junior Heavyweight.

After a chain wrestling exchange, Taguchi would come up on top of Wato with a Roll Up cradle technique to gain the fall at the 10 minutes and 22 seconds mark to move his record to (2-1) [4 points]. The loss moved Wato to (2-1) [4 points] and created a cluster near the top of the BOSJ 27 table.

Taguchi would go on to face CHAOS member “High Voltage” Sho on November 23rd, while Wato took on Suzuki-Gun member El Desperado on the same night.

With the results, both Taguchi and Wato are in a prime position to make a run towards the BOSJ 27 Finals if either can keep a solid form.
