While this is the first World Tag Leauge entry for two-time winner Sanada and reigning NEVER Openweight Champion “The Dragon” Shingo Takagi, the Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) members are one of the favorites to win World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) trophies.
Sanada won the 2017 & 2018 World Tag League tournaments with former Cold Darkness tag team partner Evil, who has since joined the Bullet Club unit. His previous success in World Tag League gives him the necessary experience to combine effectively with the rugged approach of Shingo Takagi.
The LIJ team along with reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi), FinJuice (Juice Robinson/David Finlay), and Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga/Tanga Loa) [GOD] are favorites to move on to the WTL 2020 Finals and eventually lift the trophies.
Sanada and Shingo will have to quickly find their form chemistry if they are to reach the finals and claim the WTL 2020 trophy, as their lack of experience together in pure tag team competition may come back to bite them.
Their highlighted matches during the tournament are Dangerous Tekkers (November 19th), FinJuice (November 28th), and GOD (November 30th). Sanada and Shingo will have an opportunity to advance to the finals if they can win their matches against the other favorites.
Sanada and Shingo may have their minds elsewhere, as both are looking to secure places as top singles wrestlers within NJPW. However, LIJ is known as a tight-knit unit, meaning the two are likely to work as a cohesive unit as they advance through the WTL 2020 campaign.
Sanada has been on form throughout 2020 and is coming close to reaching his full potential, while Shingo has been able to best former two-time NEVER Openweight Champion and Suzuki-Gun leader, Minoru Suzuki twice.
