Boxing News: Fans Back In Attendance For Anthony Joshua’s Showdown With Kubrat Pulev At The SSE Arena

There will be a welcome sight at the SSE Arena, Wembley a week on Saturday, as it has been announced that fans will be in attendance for the huge heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev.

It has been a long time since fans have been admitted to a boxing event, but on the 12th December, there will be 1,000 fans in the arena to see if Joshua can successfully defend his world heavyweight championships. It will be a huge event in London, and the admittance of fans has already seen the fight move from the O2 to the SSE Arena.

Boxing News: Small Attendance Set For Joshua’s Return

It will be a huge night for Joshua, as he will be stepping in the ring for the first time on over 12 months to defend his heavyweight championships. It has been a mixed couple of years for AJ, as he famously lost his titles to Andy Ruiz Jr in a shock defeat in New York before successfully regaining them.

Home support will be a positive for Joshua, but there will be strict measures in place to ensure that fans will be able to attend. Eddie Hearn revealed that he was looking forward to welcoming fans back for the first time in ten months, as he expressed that the ‘energy’ that fans create has been sorely missing from the events over the past year.

Boxing News: Joshua Looking To Set Up Unification Date

There will still be pressure on Joshua to get the job done against Pulev, as a potential huge unification fight could be set against Tyson Fury. Hearn has already revealed that the fight is likely to happen next year, and there could be more fans in attendance for the event, which could be the biggest in the world of boxing for many years. No venue has yet been agreed, but British fans will be hoping that Wembley Stadium will be the venue to be given the green light.

However, Joshua would be ill-advised to look past his opponent this weekend, as Pulev has performed excellently to earn this spot. He has only been beaten on one occasion during his professional career, with that defeat coming against former IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko back in November 2014. Since then, he has won all eight of his fights.
