During 2020, Cameron Grimes became a fan favorite to many fans in NXT. He is the best cowardly heel we’ve seen in ages, while also being able to match just about anyone in the ring. Despite this, we haven’t seen him since December 2020, when his feud with Dexter Lumis met its conclusion at NXT Takeover WarGames. He’d lose to Tommaso Ciampa soon after, his final match to date. An attack from Timothy Thatcher wrote him off TV, but when can we expect Grimes back?
Cameron Grimes Took Time Off For Surgery
The attack from Thatcher was a simple cover to take Cameron Grimes off TV while he got some surgery done. While the nature of his injury is unknown, Cameron Grimes was taken off TV for a surgery in December.
This would put him out of action for four to six weeks, with that news first being reported around the middle of December. This means he might be back sooner than we think. It couldn’t have been a major injury with that turn around time, and Grimes is likely gearing up for an in-ring return very soon.
What Better Place To Return Than The Royal Rumble?
NXT is a brand which is constantly moving around talent, with call ups happening quite often. Someone like Grimes fits in perfectly in NXT, but has the huge charisma to stand out even on brands like Monday Night RAW & Smackdown Live. With him set to return very soon, we can’t rule out a Royal Rumble appearance from Grimes. There are currently 13 open spots for the match, despite it being two days away.
Grimes has at least one old rival in the field, that being Keith Lee. Lee clashed with Grimes many times in NXT, and often had a hard time putting him away. They could pick up where they left off in the Royal Rumble, a perfect way to kick off a renewed rivalry for both.
Cameron Grimes wants to go ‘TO THE MOON’, and winning the Royal Rumble and going to Wrestlemania is as close as WWE provides on that front. That is unless WWE partners with NASA and Grimes is actually in astronaut training. Could Cameron Grimes be in the 2021 Royal Rumble? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
