SmackDown already looks set to be an exciting show this evening, with two matches having already been announced. If there has been one thing that we have learned over recent months, then it is SmackDown is normally the show that delivers the best action in the ring, and that looks set to continue this evening with another unpredictable night of action set to unfold. But, what could we potentially see happen during the show tonight?
WWE SmackDown: Owens/Reigns Fallout
Last week’s SmackDown ended with one of the most exciting closing segments, as Roman Reigns threw Kevin Owens off the top of the Thunderdome. It isn’t clear yet whether Owens will be on the show tonight, but there could be repercussions awaiting the Universal Champion.
There seems to be bubbling tension between Reigns and Adam Pearce on SmackDown, and that could lead to a tense showdown between the two this evening. It looks as though there will be one more match between Owens and Reigns at the Rumble, and few can argue that the storyline hasn’t been an enjoyable angle.
WWE SmackDown: Intercontinental Title Match
It was revealed on last week’s show that Big E would be facing off against Apollo Crews this evening. Fans have been delighted to see Big E finally get his hands on a singles title, and we will now get a first look at what a championship run with Big E will look like. Let’s face it, there isn’t much chance that Crews will be dethroning the former New Day member in this match.
But it could set up a more significant feud for Big E heading towards the Royal Rumble. There have been rumours that Seth Rollins is set to return and challenge the champion, and that will certainly be an exciting next step for Big E’s title reign.
WWE SmackDown: Women’s Title Fight Heats Up
The women’s division on SmackDown has been competitive throughout the past 12 months, and that has shown no sign of stopping since the end to the Bayley and Sasha Banks feud.
Banks is now locked in a rivalry with Carmella, and it almost looks certain that the two will once again face off at the Royal Rumble after the challenger pinned the champion during a tag match last week. There could be a re-match of that tag match again this week, and Banks could look to gain revenge.
