At Final Battle 2020, The OGK (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) were able to put away The Righteous (Vincent & Tyler Bateman) in a tag team grudge match. However, Bateman & Vincent attacked after the bell, and would injure the ankle of Bennett. While Taven & Vincent are banned from getting involved with each other, ROH officials said nothing about Bateman & Bennett, who clash tonight!
Tyler Bateman Wants To End His Opponent’s Life
Bateman recently spent some time in NJPW, where he was told by Katsuyori Shibata that he was almost too hard a hitter. He’s demented and wild, but that is what makes Bateman different and dangerous. Bennett would dash in befor Code of Honor with a spear, and rules are more relaxed for this grudge match.
Bateman would be stomped in the corner, and pulled into the middle of the ring for a piledriver, slipping out of the ring. Bennett followed Bateman outside, and they’d exchange heavy blows. Bateman hit a crisp knife edge chip, while Bennett focused on forearms, before Dita Von Starr ran a distraction. Bennett would rush into the barricade, and be hit with the spinning facebuster.
Bateman crashed down with a hammer fist, before picking him up to hit a forearm. Bennett was hiding under the ring, only to be slingshotted throat first into the steel support beams. Bateman would be scolded, and the referee checked on Bennett as we went to a commercial break.
Mike Bennett Makes The Comeback
Back in the ring after the break, Bateman hit a set of backdrop drivers, before exposing the elbow. He’d look for the rolling elbow, but took a superkick under the jaw, and Bennett got the rolling lariat. Bennett launched a chop attempt, starting a stand off in the middle of the ring. Bateman seemed to be winning out, but both men went for rolling forearms at the same time, forcing a double down.
Von Starr would say it’s time to end Bennett, and Bateman was ready to dodge a spear. Bennett would run into the post, take a big back elbow strike, and be planted with a Northern Lights Driver, but manage to kick out at two. Bateman looked for This Is A Kill, but Bennett slipped out and hit a quick spear and piledriver for the win.
After the bell, Matt Taven would beat down Vincent, and had that wood block that broke the ankles of Bennett. Von Starr wanted to make the save with the steel chair, but was stopped. This gave OGK a weapon, and Bateman was in a bad spot. Taven grabbed the microphone, and called Vincent out. If Vincent gives Taven the match he wants, Bateman will be fine. Vincent would decline this offer, and see if Taven would actually do it, and Bateman had his ankle potentially shattered.
