Ring Of Honor is looking to build up their already impressive roster, and are doing so by nabbing some talent that has flown under the radar. The latest two signees are two names from the US Indies, Sledge & O’Shay Edwards. These are two proper heavyweights, both hungry to make a name for themselves in Ring of Honor.
Edwards is an ex-college wrestler, firefighter, and was trained by Robert Gibson of Rock n’ Roll Express. Wrestling since 2015, he’s buddies with Shane Taylor, and a possible addition to Shane Taylor Promotions? Meanwhile, Sledge is part of the Future of Honor division, a hardcore punk musician, and is just all around a tough bastard. He’s been wrestling since 2011, giving a major experience edge.
Combined, we have over 500lbs in this match, and they’re ready to throw their weight around. They get their chance to shine this week on ROH Week by Week, and a win here could go a long way in the TV Championship rankings.
As Hard Hitting As Promised
Code of Honor was adhered too, and this match would get started with it’s 10 minute time limit. They wasted no time locking up, but they were equally matched in pure power. Edwards grabbed a headlock, was shoved off and met Sledge with a shoulder block. Sledge tried to give one back, but bounced Edwards off the rope, letting him come back harder and taking Sledge down. A back elbow would drop Edwards soon after, before he went Sledge through the ropes.
Sledge came back in with a slingshot spear, then sent Edwards to the floor before hitting a pump kick off the apron. Edwards was driven into the barricade, but he came back with a clubbing lariat on the outside. The 10 count was broken by Edwards, who threw Sledge back in the ring, before coming in to hit a German Suplex. Edwards threw Sledge across the ring, before hitting some shoulder thrusts in the corner.
Sledge & O’Shay Edwards Go The Limit
Sledge went for a suplex, and was hit with one himself. Edwards grabbed the arm and attacked the ribs of Sledge on the mat, before going for another suplex. When Sledge blocked, Edwards nailed clubbing blows until Sledge got the suplex. Edwards took a heavy lariat in the corner before Sledge hit a Belly To Belly Throw into the corner. More heavy blows battered Edwards, who came back with a back elbow and the Oklahoma Stampede powerslam.
Another elbow was met with a pump kick from Sledge, who followed up with a reverse sidewalk slam. Edwards came back with a sitout powerbomb, getting a near fall on Sledge. After about 8 minutes, they were winded but kept fighting. Sledge hit a huge spinebuster, and Edwards said ‘Is that all you got?’ before hitting a big forearm. They traded headbutts, and crashed in the middle of the ring when they both went for crossbodies. After struggling to their feet, they kept throwing blows as the time limit ran out.
