One of the best WWE PPVs in recent years ended with one of the biggest questions. Edge outlasted 29 other superstars during the Men’s Royal Rumble to win his second match since his shocking return over 12 months ago. Many expected Edge to be a leading contender in the match, and so that proved to be the case.
He eliminated Randy Orton last to rubberstamp his path to the main event of WrestleMania, which depending on the night that he competes, could come eleven years to the day that he was forced to vacate the title due to injury. But, which champion could he face?

The WWE Championship remains the most lucrative prize in WWE, and the title currently rests on the shoulders of Drew McIntyre. The British star thankfully regained his title by beating Goldberg at the Rumble, and Edge was quick to confront the Scot on the Raw that followed the PPV. However, the Rated-R Superstar refused to give much away, and claimed that he would know when he has decided on the champion that he wants to face.
McIntyre vs Edge would certainly be a match that all fans would be delighted to see, but it would likely be a match that divides opinion. Neither superstar will likely be turning heel before the main event at Mania, which could mean that it may be a face vs face matchup. There could be a compelling story to tell between the two, as Edge relentlessly looks to regain the title that he was forced to vacate due to injury.

One of the matches of the night at the Rumble came as Roman Reigns successfully defeated Kevin Owens in a last man standing match. The bout had fans going back and forth, and it was that good that you even questioned whether the Tribal Chief would be able to defend his championship despite being the heavy favourite to do so.
Reigns vs Edge opens up so many different avenues, with the most interesting of all centring around the fact that we could see Edge and Christian team-up at a PPV on the lead up to Mania to take on Reigns and Jey Uso. Christian’s return was one of the biggest shocks of the Rumble this year, and there would certainly be interest in seeing his back in the ring before too long. Whichever route Edge takes, fans will be captivated to see what happens next.
