Last week on NXT, we expected to find out why Adam Cole attacked Finn Balor & Kyle O’Reilly at the end of Takeover: Vengeance Day. Instead, Cole would rush the ring after a six man tag team match which saw Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan, & Danny Burch beat Finn Balor, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong. His attack left O’Reilly on a stretcher, and out for 4 to 6 weeks. Tonight, Adam Cole will finally explain why he did what he did.
Adam Cole Feels Horrible Over What He Did
First, we’d see footage from last week’s vicious attack on a man he’s called a brother for years now. Cole was upset. He had every intention of coming out to explain himself, but after watching the footage he felt sick. The NXT Championship is important to him, but is it that important? He was pissed off that Kyle O’Reilly got two chances to become champion and failed, but he’s ashamed of himself after watching the footage.
O’Reilly is watching from home, so they can’t have this talk man to man. That’s because of Cole. O’Reilly knows Cole better than anyone, and knows that he hates to admit when he’s wrong. Cole had a stupid mistake, and hates himself for it. He will do everything in his power to fix this mistake, and is gonna try his best.
Roderick Strong & Finn Balor Enter From Stage Left
Roderick Strong would come out to confront Cole, and say that it’s amazing that he feels bad now after 10 days of indifference. The Undisputed Era was built on love, trust, and brotherhood. They’d do whatever it took to have each other’s backs, but Cole shattered that trust with his actions. Strong would remind Cole that O’Reilly will heal, he always does. But when he does get back, no one can save Cole.
Finn Balor would hit the ring after shoving Strong aside, and go after Cole. Strong made the save, before being sent to the outside. Balor was winning out, before Cole hit a superkick to drop him. Back in the ring, Strong dropped Cole with a lariat, tensions boiling over. Cole & Strong would have a moment as Cole shed some tears, sorrowful over what he did to O’Reilly. They’d hug it out, but only so Cole could get the low blow. Cole is sorry that Strong is stupid and trusted him. He’d kick Strong in the face, and be the only man left standing.
