Over the past few months, Ring Of Honor has been rebuilding their previously shattered women’s division. Under the watchful eyes of Maria Kannelis Bennett, they’ve been running Women’s Division Wednesday’s as talent was scouted for a tournament which would crown the first ever Ring Of Honor Women’s World Champion. Tonight, the belt would be unveiled as well as the full tournament field.
The Field For The Ring Of Honor Women’s World Champion Tournament Revealed
First out of the gate was a familiar face to longtime fans of Ring of Honor, as former commentator Lenny Leonard is back to call the entire tournament. Leonard was originally with ROH from 2005-2009. He has also called action in companies such as EVOLVE, Shimmer, Shine, Dragon Gate, and Dragon Gate USA. After over a decade gone, it’s nice to see him back.
The tournament will run through the summer, and the finals will take place this September at Death Before Dishonor. 15 wrestlers will be in the mix, as Angelina Love has earned a first round bye, easing her path to the finals. The field would be as listed. Sumie Sukai vs. Rok-C, Mandy Leonvs. TBA, Max The Impaler vs. Holidead, Angelina Love gets her previously mentioned first round bye, Miranda Alize vs. Alex Gracia, Mazzerati vs. Nicole Savoy, Allysin Kay vs. Willow, and Marti Belle vs. Trish Adora.
Mandy Leon would have faced Vita Von Star, but Kanellis noted that Von Star is out after getting involved in a match between Matt Taven & Dutch. This leaves one open slot, which will need to be filled before the tournament begins on July 31st.
Chelsea Green Is Now With Ring Of Honor
Upon hearing this news, there was a name brought out who would be perfect for this spot. Unfortunately she’s not cleared, but the Hot Mess herself Chelsea Green is now with Ring of Honor. Recently released from WWE, this former Women’s World Champion is back. After 7 years she’s finally where she belongs in ROH.
Sadly she can’t get into the ring just yet, but she is coming for every single thing she couldn’t get in the past two years. Broken arm and all she was going to win the tournament, but she’s not cleared to compete just yet. Her time will come, and she will be at ringside scouting the entire division.
Who will get the final tournament spot? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
