Last week at AEW Homecoming, there was a big six man tag team match pitting Eddie Kingston, Darby Allin & Jon Moxley against indy standout Daniel Garcia & recently released NXT stars 2.0. The star of this match was Garcia, who showed exactly why he has the ring name ‘Red Death’. He will get an even better chance to shine today, as he matches up one on one against Darby Allin. 2.0 was in the corner of Garcia, while Allin of course has Sting in this corner. However, 2.0 claim that is actually ‘Jumping’ Jeff Farmer.
Daniel Garica Came To Fight
Allin would lock up with Garcia in the middle of the ring, and was able to force Allin into the corner and slap him to prove a point. Another lockup, and Allin slipped around into a hammerlock before shifting into an arm drag. Allin would be able to grab a headlock, before being taken down into an armbar.
Garcia would lose control before Allin rolled into pinfall, before being countered. Allin would rely on the ropes to keep Garcia off him, before they’d move back into the middle of the ring. 2.0 would distract the referee while Garcia raked the eyes, and then got tripped from the outside. Sting would confront them, but not get physical.
Garcia would take Allin down in the middle of the ring, before having to wipe some of paint of Allin off him. Allin would go after Garcia as went to the outside, before being pulled right into the middle rope. Back in the ring, he’d focus in on the arm, applying a hammerlock while also knotting up the legs. Allin was able to get free, but the damage was done to the left arm.
Darby Allin Sneaks Out A Hard Fought Win
Garcia would leave his feet and get crushed against the top turnbuckle, but 2.0 would once again give Garcia an opening. He’d grab a hammerlock for a back suplex off the top rope, getting a two count. Back to the arm for a submission, Garcia tied up the arms into a full nelson with his legs.
Allin got a foot on the bottom rope, before firing up and hitting some chops before a springboard coffindrop, which Garcia countered into a rear naked choke. A quick counter into a stunner and a proper coffin drop ended this excellent match.
Daniel Garcia has been one of the best wrestlers in the world this year, and it was amazing to see him get to work on a big stage like AEW. Both he and Allin work great as agile and technical wrestlers, and this hopefully won’t be the only time they meet up. Match Rating: 3.75/5 (*** 3/4)
